Holding elective positions, the six members of the Board of Edu- cation, Independent School District 70l, represent the people in the operation of the public schools. The Hibbing school district con- sists ot the Hibbing Junior College, Hibbing High School, Lincoln Junior High School, and the eight elemen- tary schools: Alice, Cobb-Cook, Park, Brooklyn, Washington, Green- William Home haven, Kelly Lake, and the new Treasurer Jefferson. The old schools at Lee- tonia and Maple Hill were closed in June, l959. Public meetings of the Board are held on the sixth day of each month in the special Board Room in the high school building. Pederson Principal SCHOOL LEADERS Having athousand and one items to enliven each day, the members of the administrative staff com- petently supervise the direct edu- cation ofthe secondary school stu- dent.Curriculumplanning,scheduling of classes, employment and super- vision of teachers, discipline, up- keep of buildings and equipment are some of the things that make the administration dream of tran- quilizers. With over eleven hundred senior high school students enrolled, changes in policy, adoption of new regulations are a must in order to have a school function effectively. Individual counseling during pre- scribed periods, consultation with advisers of student organizations, regular department meetings are a daily concern of the principals and directors.
