TEEN-AGE MISPLACED IN LIBRARY Located next to the main study hall, the library is accessible to all of the stu- dents. Well stocked with reference material, fiction and non-fiction books, the high school library is a haven for the scholar. When a student is not in class, he is assigned to one ot the three study halls. During this period he is expected to work on outside class assignments. Sometimes a student may be excused from study hall to work on extracurricular projects. Teachers assigned to the library and the study hall do not have other class assignments. KATHLEEN Stuntebeck browses among the books in the section devoted to novels. All English classes require the students to supplement their class work with outside reading. The high school library carries the latest reference material for all departments of study. 22 DISPERSING books to the students are Mrs. JESSIE LYMAN, Miss MARGARET BRIGGS, head librarian, and Mrs. BETTE VELLELLA. With careful thought and planning, the group participates in such diversified activities as the Talent Show, fcfreign exchange studentproi- ect and assembly programs. A major project of the Council has been to bring a foreign student to the Hibbing High School each school year and to send a Hibbing student to a foreign country each summer. The Council meets the fourth hour on each Tuesday in the Balcony Conference Room. Here complaints and suggestions of the students are considered and investigated. Frequently, questions which touch on basic school policy must be explained to the students. 24 This group of students is a legislative and and not an executive body. All officially chartered clubs are represented in this group, and the chartering of these organizations is one of the annual constitutional duties of the Council. Under the guidance of the faculty advisers, Mr. Paul Kinney, and Mr. Elmer Salvog, the president of the Council, Robert Lindemoen, delegates authority to the other officers. Other officers were George Saari, vice president, Sherry Clevenstine, secretary, and Cornelius Krollman, treasurer.
