TEAM WINS REGION CROWN Dennis farpenter battles a Greenway opponent :xr 2 on the mat. I-Iibbingls Crapplers had a very good season. Tle record was very good, I3 wins, O losses and I tie. The only team that was able to mar tI'is record was Grand Rapids. Hibbing then evened up the score as they de- feated the Indians for the Region 7 crown. The Jackets put live men in the state meet. Hibbing then got fifth place in the state meet. Two men fron' I-'ibbing were in the finals and both of them were de- feated. Thus ending a very successful season for the Grapplers. 131

Terry McDermott won 'lst place in both District tournaments. Meanwhile our doubles team of Lulce Davich and William Marinac won the spring doubles title. The second doubles team con- sisting of Michael Vidmar and Robert Pertetti copped the title this last tall. Davich and Marinac placed second in the spring tournament. They were soon to be bettered by Vidmar and Per- fetti as they won the Region 7 title in the autumn. The boys had a grueling match at the state tournament. Vidmar and Per- fetti played the longest set in twenty years while losing their first match. Terry McDermott lost the con- solation titles inthe final set. Hibbinq placed sixth in the state with tive points. Anthony Strande, Robert Perfetti, Michael Vidmar, Terrence T-'Clie oft Ronald Keith, and Mr. Lee Stark, tennis coach. 133
