Greetings and small gifts were sent to Hihhing veterans antl many foreign cottntries. The sale of pop- corn halls. cantly. ancl pencils helpetl to swell the tlelegate funtl. .Xliter a year of hartl work the council memhers proutlly wrote linis with their annual picnic. the envy of the school. Then still using the system of tloing gootl antl making it fun. the Hi-Y swung into its year with the lively Iunior Mixer. Gaining momentum. they followetl with lilfl per cent enrollment to the Real Cross. later tionating -lit per cent of their treasttry to llooti sulierers. Then came the hig issue of the year. the Oltler lloys' Conference. with hoys from all parts of Minnesota and XVisconsin attending. ' yrf Heads Of the News liangl With the slamming of the window at live o'clocli, We start to our feet, and the staff is dismissed, another dayis work done, another portion of the Hematite completed. It may he another panel. a few more hiographies. or perhaps more copy written. Thus under Miss Monl'ore's guidance the Hematite neared completion. As with any other worla. this Hematite was the result of ninety per cent perspiration and ten per cent inspiration. with occasional time out for recreation. Pictures were taken. colors chosen. a party given. suliscriptions sold, copy written. and. yes. even money countedfendless details to he seen to. The Hematite goes to press. To cut or not to cut-that was the question that faced the News stall throughout the year. Iournalism classes, correlated with senior linglish. took over the puhlishing of the High School News for the school year. Under Miss VVhite's supervision, the two jour- nalism classes alternated in preparing the articles for each issue. The stall. consisting of Irving Miller. editor-in-chief, and liarhara liechtel and Frank Lomoro. literary editors, did the planning and editing. 'Visits to the Hihhing Daily Trihune gave the stall infor- mation on how a newspaper is run. Another stride forward was taken when the News ioined the N. S. P. A. 62
