One senior went so far as to remark that we'd never have the honor of being seniors. When we as 7th graders heard this, we immediately elected Keith Cummings, president, Irene Brodrick, secretary and treasurer, and Jimmy Covert, cheer leader. Miss Archer and Mr. Reeves consented to give us a helping hand that year. As the year wore on we became, so we thought, a little more intelligent but soon we rushed off for our summer vacation. dept. l955, again saw this same group entering H.H.5. Harlan Buelher, one of our best athletes, was elected president, Jack Newcomer, secretary and treasurer, and Jimmy Covert, cheer leader. Miss Archer and Mr. Snodgrassl were elected to aid in controlling our energetic class. During the summer, the Bth grade boys stored up to much energy for we have heard from very reliable scources that we lost a teacher because of their actions. Nevertheless, Harlan pulled us successfully through the year. At the end of the term, we all ran out to get a good sun tan and get away from school studies. As this group of njust kldsu finally became 9th graders, they decided to make a change in their officers. Elizabeth Ann Brown was elected president, Charles Sewell, vice-president, and Jack Newcomer, secretary and treasurer. Finding Jim y Coverts voice had not as yet given out from the strenuous work as cheer leader, we re-elected him. Miss Archer and Mr. Smethers were elected for our sponsors. Many new Wkidsn came into our class from the country this year. Most of us struggled through and May, 1957, we graduated from junior high. 97 of us received our diplomas and began to feel like we amounted to something. ' At last, we were tenth graders. We couldn't believe that we were sophomores, and neither could some of the teachers! Just three more years to go, this was the feeling of we sophomores. Sophomore, how rich that name sounded, so what could be more fitting than to elect Keith Cummings, president, Jack Newcomer, vice-president, and Irene Brodrick secretary and treasurer. Howard Maxwell was elected cheer leader, for we knew he would never tire of singing our praise to the upper classmen. We felt very impor ant when we were asked to decorate for baccaluareate. Keith Cummings and Irene Brodrick lead the processional. Out again to get lots of sunshine and rest before we took up the traditional burden that juniors must bear. Back again with much determination to show the ou ils of H.H.5. that we could have the best prom ever. For our leaders during this imporgant year, we elected Keith Cummings, president, Dick France, vice-president, and Irene Brodrick, secretary and treasurer. I, Bill Jones, will impart to Walter Paul Isaacson the secret of being able to go with two girls at the same time and yet not lose both of them. ' I, Betty Whaley, will do the same for Ruth McCrery, that is, how to go with two boys at the same time. I, Harlan Buehler, will give Johnny Stone, my method on how to resist the advances of the opposite sex. I, Robert Parker, will let Billy Vogel have my seat in the 7th hour, so he will be more able to make up his lost hours easier. I, Jim Baird, will give to Bob Collins my road map of highway 73 north, to aid him in finding his way if he ever gets up past the state line. I, Keith Nigus, will give my map of 75 south to Bud Branscum in case he ever gets a girl in Horton or thereabouts. I, Betty Duncan, do leave to Elma Haas the job of carrying on my good work in Biology by confusing Tom Montgomery with silly questions and partial sneezes. I, Murl Curtis Brightwell, leave to anyone who wants it, the job of being basket boy. Anyone who has any objection to being hit with wet towels need not apply. I, Elizabeth Ann Brown, do leave to any one who wants lt, the tribulations and trials of keeping a boy friend in line to nobody in particular, because I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I, Dick France, do hereby freely give to Bob Graham the responsibilities and ordeals of the pictures in the next year's annual, providing there is such. I, Alvin Redmon, will let Bill Izar have the job of providing the students of H.H.S. with little joy rides on the motorcycle. Would you like to make the trip with my dog, Rover, jand me on our 23213 carpet? y and Look. ROVer, we're over New York and landing fast. What's that crowd over there now? They're awarding the cup for Miss America.n My gosh, it's Mabel Kreps! Look out for that Model T! You might eve known H CPHZY driver like that would be Harlan Buehler. We'll duck in this night club Well an my brow! Betty shannon doing a bubble dance. And, wouldn't you know 1t--A1v1n Redmon siteing O5 :he front row with a,hat pin. Show's over. Let's--wait, who's that crawling out from under that sable. Is that Chuck Sewell? Make way, Rover, here comes the second Doris Edwards! she'll take care of him. Carrie Nation. And if it isn't On to the next night club! The number playing here is a toe dance. Whoops, she fell down. Must be Ltella May strahan--I remember when she fell down in the Squaw play. lancer--Barbara John, of all people. Wow! look at the famous people :ice Davis, the season's most popular glamour girl and escorted by .ammy Beckwith. Who is that cute, little ballet on the side lines. THere's Mer- the current Clark Gable, alias Now, it's Harlem or bust! And what greets my weary eyes but Clemmy Duncan and Bud Ballew teaching :he younger generation how the shag was done in the good old days. I see Irene Brodrick has made the 1ost of her beautiful form and is modeling gowns. Lib Goodwin hasn't done bad by modeling stockings rith those million dollar legs. Do you recognize that girl, Rover? Sure, that's Codie Bergman, and he's really going to town as a commercial artist. she's gone as far as drawing the great Virginia iller, who models for Ry-Krisp. I've seen her advertisements in the nDaily Blab.u That's edited by ud Quaife. He's get a pretty good staff, considering that Dick France still gets his photos in ate. The column, Advice to the Lovelorn,n balances that, though. It's written by Betty Vermillion, ased lon her own experiences with the opposite sex. George Cramer and Robert Parker are his most nergetic reporters. They've got a nose for news, and well they should have with the training Miss ndrews gave them in American History. Hey, Rover, do you want to rest here on this bench? There's Margery Horn and Agnes strobel, mreer women as they always wanted to be. Here they are careering around the old maid's home just as . expected. This seems to be the locality for institutions. Ye Olde Insane Asylum-still has Dick mston on the pay roll even if he has sworn to quit millions of times because they keep trying to ack him up. The only reason he hasn't carried out his threat is that he feels that he must stick by nj Brightwell, whose insanity is due to his former wife. Katherine Gannon. - Now to mount the trusty carpet and on to Hollywood where we find Phyllis Pearl trying to revive le Mae West fads oi the gay '4O's, making ,use of her roller-coaster curves. On to san Francisco, ld Evelyn White standing in the midst of test tubes and chemical formulae. she's trying to invent a mol-proof freckle cream since she discovered that that man doesn't prefer freckles. Evelyn visits stty Zane Whaley in the convent regularly. Betty Zane became' a nun to forget, then forgot what she Lnted to forget--very typical of Betty. We always knew Faith Yost would get to the top. She's run- .ng an elevator in a fifty-two story skyscraper. Of course, she has her downs. Foreign lands, here we come. This trip wouldn't be complete without our African missionary, Lib 'own, who's teaching the heathens. It looks like a hopeless case even if Bob Mathewson and Glen 'thur Shaw are the most promising gleaners of knowledge. Heri work would be rewarded if this war :uld end, but Robert Kroh, our present day Hitler, and Lowell Keller, his right-hand man, are too zbitious to be held down. If Cob Moody and his efficient secretary, Verla Mensen, keep up the good ark, the war might end in a wedding march for the current Hitler and Wilma Rutland. Hi-ho, back to ,American civilization and Washington D.C. There's William shepherd, Rover. You low he's president of the United states-now. He certainly picked a honey for his first laEy..I al- Lys was sweet on Mary schilling. I see by that sign that Keith Cummings .is still laying them out .th his comical actions, only this time it's in a morgue. I guess Murlin Martin will be his next .ctim since he married Betty Duncan. Now that she's taking Gracie Allen's place, he can't stand e zaff. l What say you to Baltimore, Rover? some of the tribe are circus performers there. With a little bit of padding, he looks quite xscular. Look out there in the harbor, Rover! Who's the dark, handsome admiral of the U.s. naval Leet? Why, that's none other than our own Billy Jones. Now for Florida! Wouldn't it be swell if we could catch a glimpse of Grace Marak? she's one of xe most famous bathing beauties of the century. Jim Baird's been hanging around here, too, Rover. e's the champion speed boat racer now. He always was pretty fast. Let's go visit Beulah Foster's mmwr estate. she can afford one since shels patented that device that won't let typewriters make 'TOPS Q Let's go back to the dear old Alma Mater. We're sure to find Ruth Pratt still in the Commercial Lass, giving speed tests instead of taking them. Who's that fat decrepit old man? Oh, now I re- :gnize him--Tom Montgomery, our senior sponsor. I'll wager he got that mg skyward at our feathered friends, and that bent mack from picking up Am I thirsty! Me for a coke!
