Your days at Hiawatha High School will one day be only memories. We the 1975 Haiawatha Annual Staff have compiled this annual to help you remember those yesterdays . As you look through these pages, remember-we shall never pass this way again. The Annual Staff 1975 ■DtDJCA zjoy We, the class of ninteen-hundred and seventy-five wish to dedicate this Hawk annual to a man who has contributed much to Haiawatha High School as well as the Kirkland community. He has given unselfish- ly of his time and talents. In his ten years here, he has undertaken such challenges as Annual Staff, Industrial Arts Club, Class Sponser, Ceramics Classes, Woodworking and various other arts and craft classes. His friendliness, honesty, and openess are appreciated by all. In years to come, we can look to him as a guide for our own futures. Though we can never show all of our gratitude, as a small token of our appreciation, we dedicate this annual to you, Mr. Way. 2 Much of your success in life after leaving Hiawatha will be dependent upon opportu- nities, situations, and yes - just plain LUCK. A greater share of a chance for this success will also be dependent upon DISCIPLINE, PRIDE, and UNSELFISHNESS - for without these you will not be able to cope with each opportune situation that is given to you. I, DONNA HOLTAPP, will my ability to disconnect my odometer in my car to Cindy Banks. I, KEVIN HUCKER, will my high-heeled shoes to Mr. Gore and hair to Mr. Ingrum. I, TERESA JACOBSEN, will all my reports (1,000 in all) to the garbage can. May any garbage man who comes their way enjoy them. I, ROBIN JUDKINS, will my ability to go up town without getting caught, plus my luck and brains, to Sue More- head, who needs a lot of help. I, RANDY KAALAAS, will my ELVIS PRESLEY image to Rick Borrett, and my liking of short girls to Jon Firkins. I, LINDA KLOCK, will my well deserved nickname, Crash , to Ralph, who bestowed it upon me. I, DEBI MANNI, will nothing, for as great as I am, no one can handle what I have to offer. I, JIM MARSHALL, will my ability to fight with the teachers to Sam Boston, and my nickname, Shorty , to Neal Thorton. I, DON MCCLENTHEN, will my ambition from 8th grade to be a singing star to Becky Johnson. I, DOUGIE MOREHEAD, will my ability not to write weird wacky wills to whomever will want to be unwilling to will one. I, BARB MCKENNA, will my crush on Duck Williams to Judy Bloom. I, BECKY MONTGOMERY, will my ability to dance, which is very little, to Teresa Capes. I, DAVE OLSON, will my nonexistant love life to the wolf, Jim Montgomery, and my moves to Chuck Sanderson, the man who can. I, BOB PARISOT, will my ability to drive a car to my brother, Jerry. I, CINDY PETERSON, will my ability to get soaked on the way to 4th hour to Mark Thurlby and Brad Henry. I, NANCY SMITH, will my ability to put a car in park at 55 mph to anyone whose dumb enough to take it. I, ELLEN TAYLOR, will all the worries and frustration of being captian of the Pom Pon Squad to the 75-76 captain and the long wait for my drivers license to all HHS sophomores. I, TERESA VARBLE, will my accounting mistakes to Janice Rittmeyer, my last piece of gum to Miss Nohren and the stamp pad and all the ink I can find to Ann Freeman. I, the late RANDAL GLEN WILLIAMS, being of sound mind and body at the time of this writing, will my instinc- tive driving ability to Mike Patrick. I, TED WILLIAMS, will Freddie to Skunk. I, CINDY WINDOM, will my mouth to science research and the remains to Agrico. 21 Remember When Remember what got thrown around the Soph. English Honors Class, and Miss Heenan asked the girls to leave while she had a heart to heart talk with the boys. Remember when Ellen Taylor got upset at the teacher because she couldn't go to the washroom and the result? Remember Liz's super rash on the chest-fake hicky-in speech. Lori got one just watching. Remember when Baldy had his appendicitis attack in 6th grade and threw up? Remember when Norm and Hoot XEROXED the English test, then passed the copies out at an assembly. Remember the terrific Journalism party when we were Juniors? Remember when the gang played RATE-A-CHICK in the lounge. Remember when A1 Clark was caught with Rhonda Conro? Remember when Kevin Aves and Randy Kaalaas shot the moon by the school drive and everybody saw them. Remember when John Gore was smoking cigars on Halloween so he could light his firecrackers. Remember when shy, uneasy Cindy Allen opens up into a boisterous person under interpersonal care. Cindy Barker would get teased in Government Class. Remember when Becky Weaver and Debi Manni told John Gore that the guys were immature? Probably because they didn't place in the RATE-A-CHICK contest!! Kevin Hucker and Ted Williams got drunk in Chemistry Class. When we had 50's day and all the Guys were Greasers? When we were jipped out of our Springfield trip in 8th grade. When Mr. Krueger came to school with lipstick on his forehead and when Mike Fisher told him his face turned as red as the lipstick. Remember when Norm Rich and Jim Barnes decided they knew more than Mr. Male, blew up a bottle, and wrote the essays on Air Pressure? Remember when Rebecca Montgomery was called 'Curly'. Remember when certain Senior girls hid a tape recorder in the lounge during second lunch and listened later to the remarks the senior guys had made. Remember when Dave Firkins, A1 Clark, Ted Williams, and Randy Kaalaas shook hands and drank lemmon juice all night one time. Remember when Mark Bernhardy let Cindy Peterson and Kay Balch carry the podium down to the auditorium while he watch- ed and graciously opened the door.
