SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE To the Graduating Class of 1959: The honor of being the first class to graduate from the Hiawatha High School is yours - may you achieve many more honors as you progress through life. May you appreciate and use effectively the heritage that is yours in such realms of activity as the home, the school, the community, and the church. May you always so strive and so conduct yourselves that when your footprints are recorded ln the sands of time that this world will be a better place in which to live because of your contributions as you passed along the roadway of life. In the words of Sir William Osler, We are here to add what we can to, not to get what we can from life' or in the words of Henry Van Dyke, He that planteth a tree is a servant of God, He providetha kindness for many generations and faces that he hath not seen shall bless him. You have entered to learn - may you now go forth to serve, Sincerely, Harold C. Flanigan
