HEWLETT ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION The H A A has had a very act1ve program tlus year a really great year' The f1rst act1v1ty of the H A A was the electlon of off1cers ln October Each sports manager arranged the bulletln board attractxvely wxth pxctures of her sport And, when It was txme for the sport she arranged class and mtramural games w1th truly 1nd1v1dual team names such as these 1n volleyball the Collles Mollres Pollxes Dollres and Holhes QUnfortunately It was pretty hard to flgure out whlch team was bemg cheered for, so we just cheered everybody' j Interscholastxc hockey games were held wlth Seton Hall Bellport St Joseph's an Knox The only game the varsxty lost was the one played at St James w1th Knox At the end of the hockey season the Wh1te Team played a tense game agamst the Green Team Happxly for the Greens and unhappxly for the Whrtes the Green Team won 3 2 It was a great day for the Ir1sh' Also fall was the season for tenxus golf archery, soccer speedball and r1d1ng Tenms, under the 1l'1Stl'11Ct10U of Mr Falk, resumes xn the sprmg and we are ant1c1pat1ng ramural matches Golf IS also a sprmg sport Wlth Golf Club gettmg 1nto full swmg 1n March Archery IS another that xs played best rn warm weather fof course, lf one uses fxre arrows xt m1ght be a dxfferent matter'j Rxdmg has contlnued all year through snow sleet hall ra1n, mud and even sunsh1ne At the beg1nn1ng of December we took up a major sport volleyball We had a great trme wzth thls The score of the Faculty Student game was 30 22 our favor But as the volleyball manager said the faculty played very nlcely ' In anoth volleyball game the Sports Board beat the faculty, who were somewhat exhausted by now but a score of should we tell? In mtramurals the Semors were vlctonous The Whxte Team staged a thr1ll1ng comeback ln volleyball by trouncxng the Green 32 26' Our next b1g sport 1S basketball St Joseph's Seton Hall and Knox were lncluded 1n thxs lnter scholast1c program The Faculty Student basketball match was the event of the season' ' ' In the wlnter we also have badm1nton pmg pong fenc1ng tumbllng and modem dance The tumblmg w1ll be perfected for F1eld Day wh1ch IS held ln the Sprlng In spr1ng a young g1r1's fancy turns to softball and la crosse Father Daughter Day IS a spr1ng event we all look forward to Qfathers, tool when everyone brlngs lunch and plays sports and 1mag1nat1ve games How many soybeans can one pick up at once h a pa1r of Cl'lOPSt1CkS7 On F1eld Day Green and Whlte compet1t1on 1n outdoor sports and track comes to a cllmax, and the Presldent of the H A A IS elected We hope she w1ll be as wonderful as Dott1e Detwller has been' Sally Oakes Secretary 33 0 1 q ' .
