Fourth Grade LEFT to RIGHT: e, Linda Low, Stephen Vejvoda,Vir- ginia P. Manczur, Mary Catherine Jacobatos, Hanna Holland. Af . The day begins with Miss Johnston's roll call, then on to learn reading, writing, and arithmetic. When the recess bell rings the patter of little feet may be heard running to the swings and slide. After that, back to work until the lunch bell rings - then gym. After each marking period one can always be sure to see Virginia Manczur, and Linda Low, receiving gold stars for the honor roll. Whenever laughter is in the air, Stephen is around with his practical jokes. Then in pops Dinny, coming through the door with his arms full of interesting things. The fourth grade has had many enjoyable times such as: being in Christmas Chapels, having parties, and taking part in Commencement. The year has been a good one for them, and they are looking forward to next year with Mrs. Brown. First, Second and Third Grades ,nn ROW ALONG WINDOWS: Kimberly Cameron,Diane Dempsy,Nan Mary Seley, Richard Meeropfel, Beth Morrel, Billy Eyre, Marion Doom. MIDDLE ROW: Marcia Vinson, James Hard, John Carrington, Elena de Murias, Kent Michael Kent. OUTSIDE ROW: Andrea Mac Adam, Carol Goul, Catherine War- nock, Margaret Meerapfel, Karin Lawrance. 1961, - The first three grades make Miss Johnston's room their headquarters. There they assemble every morning for their own chapel. After chapel comes reading, arithmetic and spelling. By the time the recess bell rings, every- one is ready for crackers and a little play. In the warm weather the play area with swings, slide and see saw is a popular rendez-vous. After recess there is more work and, then, gym during eighth period. When gym is over their day is almost finished. Some go to Main House to wait with Mrs. Wilson for their parents, some wait at the School House. They always have something interesting to tell about their busy day at Hewlett. 28
