I f our the Bulldog and drive 'From football games to pep rallies, the Bulldog fan. A thrill spreads among the students in crowd will chant thez asll f'RO0STER cheer g g has been long awaited at Hewlett High School. gg ' , iir Each class at Hewlett feels the same emotions upon graduating leaving , m memoriesbbehind. Our senior class holds special memories because the Bulldog has any created. a spiritwhich unites us' that holds a deep meaning only to us. The Qfjlasslot l'986 will forever remember this spirit as we depart trom George W. Hewlett High School.
As we salute the Bulldog we dedicate this volume of Patches to Dr. Donald Robbins whose arrival to George W. Hewlett High School in l983 brought a new dimension to school spirit. As principal, Dr. Robbins has made us aware that there is more to high school than what takes place inside the classroom. His influence upon the students to create Hewlett's first mascot, the Bulldog, resulted in a new school spirit which stirred throughout the student body. This spirit continued to grow with the beginning of annual events including Pep Rally, Homecoming, Homecoming Dance, and Sportsnight. Not only does he supervise these events, he takes part in them as well. His desire to involve students with school issues was fulfilled with the formation of the Principal Advisory Committee and the Freshman Advisory Committee. In spirit of Patches '86 we dedicate this yearbook to you, Dr. Robbins, for showing us how to make the most of our high school days. W If you want something done ask the busy man-the other kind has no time. It is often difficult to realize the contributions of any one teacher in a school of so many. During Mr. Hugh Grey's 29 years at Hewlett he has served as Social Studies Department Chairperson and President of the Faculty Association. Inside the classroom, whether it be American History or Sociology, Mr. Grey creates an atmosphere conducive to learning. From many different perspectives his students gain insight through participating in his stimulating classroom discussions. Deeply regretting Hugh M. Grey's retirement, we recognize the accomplishments of the busy man who helped to establish a tradition of quality education at George W. Hewlett High School. It is in honor of these accomplishments that we dedicate Patches '86 to you, Mr. Grey.
