The Business Education Department of Hewitt-Trussville offers a wide choice of sub- jects for students planning a business career. Typing I and Typing II are offered for those students going into a clerical career. Shorthand I and Shorthand II are also offered. Bookkeeping and business math deal with the mathematical aspect of the business world. The Office Occupation Cooperative Program is for students interested in receiving on-the-job training while still in high school. This course is for students not planning to go to college. Business Education MRS. SIBYL M. ANDREWS, the sponsor of the Memento, has a B.S. degree from Mississippi State College for Women. This is her second year at Hewitt-Trussville. MR. ROBERT W. GREGG, the sponsor of the I.C.T. Club, received his B.S. degree from Flor- ence State. This is his third year at Hewitt. MISS VICKIE GUINN received her B.S. in Business Education from Mississippi State College for Women. This is her first year at Hewitt-Trussville. MR. HORACE E. PANNELL attended Liv- ingston State College, where he received his B.S. degree. This is his first year at Hewitt- TrussVille. MR. ARLEY C. WILLIAMSON has taught at Hewitt-Trussville for six years and spon- sors the Audio-Visual Club. He has a B.S., M.A., and A. A. degree from Samford Uni- versity and the University of Alabama. 24

Guidance MR. DAVID L(X;AN, JR., works at Hcwitt-Trussville three days a wtck as a Vocational Counselor, He also works with the neighborhood youth corps and other Federal programs. Mr. Logan does much of the work of a regular counselor. He is always ready to help students who need and seek his advice. Mr. Logan deals directly with any person who wants information concerning occupational training or the B.O.E. program. MRS. LAURA PARSONS is depended upon to be the record keeper at Hewitt-Trussville. Her success at this task proves that she is in the right job. She has records of all descriptions to keep in order; permanent records, tran- scripts, grades, transfers, etc. Without Mrs. Parsons con- tinuing help, Hewitt-Trussville could not be run so effi- ciently. The students and faculty of Hewitt-Trussville are grate- ful for your services to the school. MRS. DELLA SUTTER has been serv-ing Hewitt-Truss- ville as bookkeeper for 16 years. Her task of bookkeeping is a big one involving hard work and concentration. Mrs. Sutter is also considered the school ' s receptionist; wel- coming and helping visitors in our school. She is also responsible for helping the school clubs keep track of their money. This is why she is always keeping a drawer full of nickles, dimes, and quarters. Thank you, Mrs. Sutter, for your many years of service to Hcwitt-Trussville. 23

English MRS. MILDRED LAMAR has taught at Hewitt-Trussville for 21 years. She attended Birmingham Southern where she received her A.B. degree. She is the Senior Class sponsor. MRS. WILMA ROBY sponsors the Junior Honor Society. She has taught at Hewitt- Trussville for nine years. She attended the University of Alabama and Florence State where she received her MA. and B.S. de- grees. The English Department of Hewitt-Trussville offers a choice of three English classes. College English is offered to those students who plan to enter college. In College English more em- phasis is placed on research and writing. Regular English classes go into all the usual phases of English in much the same way as the college classes, only to not so great an extent. Business English is offered to those students who wish to terminate their education after completing high school. MRS. BETTY BETTIS graduated from Sam- ford University where she received her B.A. degree. She is the sponsor of the Husky Howl. This is her first year at Hewitt. MRS. GRACE ROBERSON has taught at Hewitt-Trussville for 27 years. She received her B.S. degree from the University of Al.ibama. MRS. CHARLOTTE SUTTER is the sponsor of the Key Club. She has taught at Hewitt- Trussville for 12 years and has an A.B. (.legree from Samford LIniversity. 25
