Dedication Dedication We, the Senior Class, would like to dedicate the 1984 Heuveltonian to Mr. Lee Dezell in appreciation of his guidance in compiling this year’s Heuveltonian. Not only did Mr. Dezell put much time and effort into our year- book, but he also had a way of persuading people to par- ticipate in class activities. The initiative he took this past fall helped to start our class off to a productive year. He was not only an advisor for the yearbook, but a friend to each one of us who knew him. Because of this, we, the class of 1984 would like to dedicate this yearbook, “Many Roads to Travel,” to Mr. Dezell in appreciation for his many contributions to our class.

HEUVELTON CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT Box 375, Washington Street Heuvelton, New York 13654 Phone (315) 344-2414 Towns of Oswegatchie, DePeyster, Macomb, DeKalb, Lisbon, Canton ADMINISTRA TION BOARD OF EDUCATION Alfred J. Nichols, Pres. John Zeh, Vice Pres. David Kingsley Daniel Barr Lawrence S. Ames, Superintendent of Schools Glenn W. Timmerman, Vice Principal Guidance Director Robert J. Balfour, Director of Elementary Education John D. Cerio, Elementary Guidance Harold G. Covey, Business Manager Treasurer BOARD OF EDUCATION Joan K. Kennedy, Clerk Shirley Christensen Kenneth Chambers Robert Morrow The senior year in high school is usually a great experience for everyone in the class. The years of study and toil and struggle are nearly all behind you and you look forward to that day called Graduation, a crossroad from which you select the direction of your life. It is at that point that you have some critical judgments to make as to which one of the many roads you are going to select. Will it be further education, the world of work, the armed services? Whatever route you select must truly be your own. There are many roads to follow and you now find yourself at a crossroad of decision making. Great care and preparation has gone into your education so that you may make the right decision for you at this juncture. Aim high — “hitch your wagon to a star” — so that your own abilities are being utilized to the fullest, your self esteem is justified and you’re ready to take your place in the mainstream of society regardless of which of the many roads you choose to follow. The road you take will perhaps your lifetime make! Lawrence S. Ames Superintendent of Schools 4

Dedication Dedication We, the Senior Class of 1984, would also like to dedicate our yearbook to our teacher and dear friend, Mrs. Sally Hartman. We feel that she deserves this honor because of the genuine concern she has shown for our class in the past few years. Mrs. Hartman has been our class advisor since we were sophomores, and was again this year. She offered helpful advice which secured us financially, and was always there to guide us down the right path. Mrs. Hartman donated a great deal of her time and energy to our class, and although we sometimes neglected to say it, we greatly appreciated her guidance and friendship. It is hard to express in words the gratitude and appreciation we feel towards her. Therefore, by dedicating this yearbook, “Many Roads to Travel,” to Mrs. Hartman, we hope that she can see how big a part she has played in the making of our memories.
