The Last of the 70’s: “Memories” The 1979 Heuveltonian Honoring the Senior Class of Heuvelton Central School 1979 YEARBOOK STAFF Jane Gilmour . . . co-editors . . . Lou Anne Smithers Matt Barr Lisa Bellinger Dave Cline Rick Dodds Lisa Harris Anne Henry Marcia Holland Michelle Holland Pat Johnson Erin Johnston Lida Kelly Rick Kelso Sherry Merrill Terri Merrill Mark Nicholson Sue Perry Lisa Young Last of the 70’s” Now as the end of Our highschool days grow Near, its time for us To plan our futures. No longer can we hide Behind our parents or friends; It’s time to start our Lives, to do what we've Always dreamed of doing! One important thing that Teachers have stressed to Us over the years is That for others to believe In us, we must first Show them we believe In each other! We’ve been taught to stand up To the challenges of this World rather than hide; To say, Hey world, look at me. I’m a person and no one Can take this away from me!” We’ve been able to watch each Other grow over the past years; To see them develop their own ways. We’ve laughed together. And we’ve cried together. We’ve learned to replace Our doubts with confidence, And not to settle for Less than 1. We’ve built up memories In each other that shall Last us a lifetime; No matter where our lives May lead us, or how We may turn out, we Can always look back on Our warm memories at H.C.S. And when we think We’re just not strong enough To face what others are Going to throw at us then We’ll simply tell them; Hey, we were the last Of the 70’s, and as everyone knows. They always save the best for last!” We’re going to make it!!! Lisa Young DEDICATION Wc die ('lass of 1979. dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Wesley Stitt. We feel that he deserves this honor because of the genuine concern he had for all of us. He would go out of his way to make us feel important and he always encouraged us to pursue the career we liked. Mr. Stitt always seemed to have unlimited time to talk to us and he was always there when we needed him. His enthusiastic attitude toward life was welcomed and when- ever we had a problem we always felt we could go to the complaint department Mr. Stitt was so well liked that when he left, he t x k with him a little piece of Hcuvelton that will never lx- replaced. It seems appropriate that we dedicate our yearbook to him, because he dedicated himself to us. We thank you, Mr. Stitt. Class of '79 APPRECIATION We the Class of 1979. would also like to show our appreciation to a man who has helped us so much in our Junior year, Mr. William Lynch. Without Mr. Lynch we would not be as financially endowed as we are. He helped us raise money by selling candy and encouraged a lot of the class members to participate in class activities. Mr. Lynch has a unique quality of manipulating people to work harder and harder. When the prom was close at hand, he was right there helping us become organized. Sometimes words just can’t express our gratitude. Wc thank you, Mr. Lynch. Future Plans: College Foreshadow 1989 Welcome to our class reunion, 1989. The boat is just docking at the NICHOLSON-LABARR estate, Fan- tasy Island. MARK and MATT are now president and vice-president of a large corporation and were cour- teous enough to host us this afternoon. The first familiar face we see is that of KORISA TODD, who is the private secretary of Nicholson and LaBarr Inc. To show the respect our class has, we allow the representatives of the service to lead the way. First to step down the ramp is 5-star General RANDY REDMOND. He is closely followed by Major ANTHONY MILLS, Captain JOHN SCHNEILLER, Corporal DOROTHY STEVENS, and privates SHANNON BESIO and VICKI THOMPSON. Next to come ashore is TERRI MERRILL who has been busy working for the Pentagon these past few years. We hear she is quite a mathematician. Next to get off the boat are the caterers of this reunion: DAN BURNHAM, who furnished the pizzas and subs from Dan's Deli; MITCHE COOK, who supplied the Big Macs; SUE HAMILTON, who supplied the dairy products from her place, the Dairy Queen; SHERRY MERRILL, who owns her own string of Mrs. Donuts, brought 32 dozen donuts, and GARY DUVALL, who has supplied the refreshments from Duvall’s Brewery. We think it only proper to mention that the planner of this meal was dietician CAROL LAL- ONDE. Next, we see our entertainers for the day get off the ship. To lead the way is famous vocalist SHIRLEY CLINE, who recently won the award for female vocalist of the year. Following close behind her is her agent and business manager, STEPHANIE WOOD. Next is the singing duet of DALE MUSSEN and RAY- MOND PRAY. Off the starboard bow, we see the local mafia have made the scene. First we see TOM SANSOUCY, fol- lowed by professional hitmen, BRAD TOOMEY, RON FINLEY, JOHN HAZELTON, and RON THOMP- SON. Sneaking off the boat behind them is detective-policewoman, LISA HARRIS. She has been follow- ing them for the past five years now and still hasn’t caught them with the goods. Coming ashore now we see LYNN GARDNER and LAMONA HAMILTON. They haven’t stopped walking around the deck since we left port. Next to come off the boat is BRION BOYESON and RICK DODDS who own a jeep repair shop in Vermont where Brion is also co-owner of a mayonnaise producing forest. Next to get off the ship is that Nobel Laureate LISA YOUNG, (Henry). She won this prize for her poetry which she composes at her hermitage in the Adirondacks. We understand WARREN PUTMAN, who will not arrive till later, has been watching over the forest lands there. Following close behind is Henry’s pri- vate librarian, LIDA KELLY. Next in succession is Lida’s highschool friend, professional horse-trainer, LISA BELLINGER. She is the first woman to train a Triple-Crown winner. Coming down the ramp we see Lisa’s private vets, KELVIN and KATHY, of PIERCE and MARKEY Inc. Straight from the farmlands of St. Lawrence Co. we see LEE GRIFFITH, STEVE PRICE, ROGER JACKSON, and WORTH HURLBUT. It has been said that they own the four largest dairy farms in New York State. Next we see Academy Award winning director JANE GILMOUR, with two of her top actresses, VIR- GINA WILMONT and CATHY McCABE. Coming close behind them is Jane’s private secretary BRENDA MATTICE. She has been with Jane for four years now. Along the lines of entertainment we see comedi- enne GRACE HOLLAND walk down from the boat chatting leisurely with her manager AMBER BULL- OCK. Looking back in the direction of good ole HCS, we see MIKE LEVAC who has taken over Sib’s job, and VIOLET PIKE, who has replaced the 1 secretary, Mrs. Poulton, get off the ship. A few blocks away from school, we understand a new Foozball Gallery has opened up and co-owners JOANN STONE and DEN- ISE HOWES are now coming ashore. Now we see the class jocks departing from the boat. Setting the pace is BRAD DECKER, who became the first white to make the Harlem Globetrotters. Coming up quickly behind him is race car driver JEFF MAT- THEWS and Cincinnati Reds, RON SELLERS who replaced Pete Rose and TOM RITCHIE who has 98 replaced Joe Morgan. Turning the tables, we see the female line of athletes of our class come off next. Coming down the ramp we see New York Cosmos player PAT JOHNSON looking for a pass from her teammate ERIN JOHNSTON. We understand that Pat and Erin were the first two women to play profes- sional soccer. Now, looking up, we see Philadelphia 76er SUE PERRY descending, according to the papers Dr. S is largely responsible for the 76ers winning the national title. Backing down the ramp we see RICK KELSO, who is getting good action pictures of models SUE THORNHILL, LORI PERKINS, and LISA HUTTON. Following the models off the ship are their private beauticians, KIM RHEOME and BERNADETTE GAGNON. Drawing pictures of today’s big event are art- ists MICHELE HOLLAND and PAT CHAMBERS, who are now coming ashore. Next, we e successful busi- nesswoman LOU ANNE SMITHERS, who has joined us from sunny Florida. Walking along side of her is WARREN PUTMAN. Coming ashore now, we see CORRINA WEBB, talking as usual to data-processor MARIE OTIS. Prepar- ing to come off the ship now is college genius MARCIA HOLLAND. She has 5 degrees under her belt and still doesn’t know what she wants to do. Sliding off the ship now, we see wealthy Texan DAVE CLINE who struck it rich in oil a few years back. Last to get off the ship is DAN BRACY and company. We under- stand he has narrowed his female companions down to fifty for the day. The ceremonies are about to begin now, but wait!! There’s a helicopter landing to our right. Who is it??? Why, it’s the nurses, GEORGIA GILBERT, ANNE HENRY, MARILYNN SMITHERS, DONNA MATHIE and EVELYN HURLBUT who have just flown in from South Africa, where they just stopped an epidemic of Saturday Nite Fever, and Sunday morning blues. Well, I guess we’re about to begin now that all our class-mates are accounted for. When you get us all together, you have standouts of all areas of life. Thanks for joining us, and so long for now. The friends that cling in tempest As they do in calms, are those That have made the paths of hardship Seem the paths of song and rose. The friends that love us always, When we go their way or not, Are the friends our hearts remember When the others are forgot. The friends that stick the closest When the trouble grows the worst; The friends that love us always. Just the way they did at first — They are the crowning jewels Of the coronets we weave In the dream of tender moments When the troubles start to leave; We revere their names for ever And we see their faces clear — The friends that love us always, Whether the sun or shadow’s near. 108 Author Unknown JUST KNOWING YOU’ LOVE’ Friends so special and so dear Oh, how I wish that you were here. So you could know 1 love you! Times spent without a thanks, Tears brought without a thought, Giving you thought and prayer helps to ease my mind, But how I wish I had more time, to spend just knowing you. Brenda Mattice SPRING The smell of spring is in the air, The birds are fast returning; And now that winter’s end is near, I have a gentle yearning. I yearn to smell the fresh green grass, As it springs beneath my feet; I also dream of moonlight walks, With the girl down the street. There are also thoughts of swimming, And angling for some fish; There certainly are a multitude Of things for which I wish. But suddenly I’m awakened, By the TV weathercast; They forecast cold for all next week, My dream just couldn’t last. Seward A. Sibley Depeyster, N.Y. Special thanks goes to: Mrs. Fay for helping put the yearbook together, Mrs. Hartman for all her counseling, Amber Bullock for extra help on the yearbook, Charlene Chambers for the pictures behind our seniors and some sports pictures, and to all Seniors th t worked on the yearbook — Somethings are purple, Somethings are green, Some are nice, Some are mean. Love is like a light shining through, Love is two people like me and you, Love is short and sweet, you know, But Love will grow and grow and grow, Remember Love is for one and maybe two But most of all, Love’s for me and Love’s for you.
