Text from Pages 1 - 126 of the 1970 volume:

YEARBOOK MESSAGE A time to keep silence and a time tc speak'' is a quote from Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament which is appropriate to the present time and is part of the theme of the 1970 Heuveltonian. This is a time of rapid change and also a time of great confusion for everyone. The acceptable mores of five years ago are now seemingly as outdated as the study of Greek mythology Respect and consideration for democratic ideals of law, order and majority rule seem to have been superseded by individual rights due to very broad contemporary inter- pretation of our governing Constitution. There are those who demand freedom without accepting the responsibility that goes with such freedom. Instant exposure of the so called non-conformists by the communications media has added to this confusion caused by the discontented minorities. This is the time that you should prepare yourselves to speak for those things in our society which you feel must be held sacrosanct. Those wishing for rapid and complete change have spoken. The time to keep silent is past for those opposed to the rapidly changing world around us. You will have to make that judgment as to when to keep silent and when to speak. Hopefully it will be for the bet- terment of our1 society. -1 Lawrence S. Am.es Supervising Prineipa1 Me, the Class of 1970, dedicate the Heuveltonian to Mr. Albert Delair. Throughout our high school years, Albie has been our favorite fix-it man , and his good nature has always made our day brighter. It means an awful lot to have a friend to count on, and we consider Albie to be the best of friends. Not an activity has gone by that Albie hasn't given his whole-hearted support In boosting our school spirit. We look upon him as a permanent fixture to our school, and without him, it wouldn't be the same. With deep respect and admiration, we thank you, Albie. A time to be born And a time to die: A time to plant. And a time to pluck up that which is planted: A time to mourn, And a time to dance: A time to cast away stones.
