m CLASS HISTORY Four years in our new school have given us insight into the workings of democracy in school life, from our first election of class officers our Freshman year to our choice of a career in our Senior year. We found that freedom brings re- sponsibilities, and to the teachers who helped us realize this fact, we are eternally grateful. Freedom in careers meant that we must discover our aptitudes and talents over a period of four years. However, after dis- covery came development, a major re- sponsibility indeed. Freshman officers were: Billy Backus, President; Bob Young, Vice President; Teresa Sovie, Secretary; and Florence Howes, Treasurer; with Mr. Conklin as advisor. In our Sophomore year, we chose Catharine La Forty as President, Flor- ence Howes as Vice President, Edna Bishop as Secretary, and Iona Manfred as Treasurer, with Miss Kenyon as ad- visor. Our social activities were much the same for these two years, featur- ing summer picnics at Lazy River and a memorable sleigh ride in zero weather. Our treasury was being filled mainly through our right to bargain at food sales. Student council acquired a deeper meaning. Good citizenship held more mean- ing in our Junior year, as we assumed more leadership in school affairs. Of- ficers were Jack Woodside, President; Arnold Pray, Vice President; Catharine La Forty, Secretary; and Iona Manfred, Treasurer. Mr. James as our advisor helped us greatly in planning our Jun- ior Prom whose theme was Memories . This year, we Seniors appreciate our privilege of being free to choose a career and to engage in a yearbook enterprise that will, we hope, inter- pret our school to the public. Officers are Catharine La Forty, President; Billy Backus, Vice President; Dianne Goo3haw, Secretary; and Linda Armstrong as Treasurer. Advisors are Mr. Harold Smith and Mrs. Armstrong.
