GOLDEN MOMENTS In the fall of »52, thirty-two wide-eyed Freshmen found them- selves in the old high school building, listening to a quaint old gentleman. Father Time, explain his philosophy of life. All life is a race, he stated firmly, and all race for time. We nodded solemnly, but we really didn't understand. Arnold Pray, as President, aided by Vice- President Aleta MaCaulay, Secretary Elizabeth Reynolds, and Treasurer Larry Fishbeck, would have to worry over this remark. With Mrs. Kuchler as advisor, we planned food sales and an outing at Lazy River. When our Sophomore year flew around, we were really racingfor Time, but our new Central School made us happy in doing it. Some of us were gaining fame in athletics and also getting honor marks. Our officers that year were President, Jack Wood- side; Vice-President, Arnold Pray; Secretary,Philip Parish; and Treasurer, Kenneth Courtney. Our major projects were selling beanies and school let- ters. We also sponsored several hay- rides and food sales. We chose Mr. Matthews as advisor. For our Junior Class officers, we elected Aleta MaCaulay, President; Mary Ann Sovie, Vice-President; Mar- garet Chambers, Secretary; and Bernard Link, Treasurer. We chose Mr. Morgan as our capable advisor. Our class had fewer members, but we doubled our ef- forts to become well rounded. Our once-in-a-lifetime thrill came when we selected our Junior Class rings. Another big event was our Junior Prom. Our time was completely engrossed in decorating with the theme, Paris in the Springtime . We worked like beav- ers for two days and nights and as a result produced a beautiful fairyland of lilacs, tulips, and balloons. The royalty were His Highness, Daniel Lake, and Her Highness, Joan Goulden, who ruled amidst the regal splendor. As we began our Senior year at Heuvelton Central, we felt entitled to call ourselves winners in our race for Time. Our elected officers were: Kenneth Courtney, President; Bernard Link, Vice-President; Harold Curry, Secretary; Nancy Armstrong, Treasurer; and advisors Mrs. Armstrong and Mr. Smith. Father Knows Best, our Senior play, was fun to produce with Mrs. Hendee as coach, and brought us favorable comments from our severest critic. Time. However, he reminded us constantly that we should rush ahead with our yearbook. Remember that deadline, he muttered each day. Looking back over four years of high school, we feel that we have golden moments to remember always. In racing for time, we had the guidance of faculty and school authorities to whom we are all grateful. May the future classes be winning entries in their race for Time 1 ANNUAL STAFF r x-vjii u now: Armstrong, Literary Ed.; Gilbert, Ass't Art Ed.; E,d ; Ashworth, Macaulay, Photography Editors; Chambers, Ed -in-chief; Huntress, Ass't Ed.; Mr. Smith, Advisor.
