The days and years we have spent together have been the most formative and rewarding of our life. We have worked and played together for so many years that we have become closely associated with each other. Even though our members may scatter, we know that we will always cherish the memories of the Heuvelton Central School. The Yearbook staff, under the guidance of Mrs. Edgar Hendee, has worked hard to produce THE HEUVELTONIAN of 1952. We have en- joyed recording our achievements, and we hope that you will recall with pleasure the friendships and experiences of the past four years as you look over this book. We shall always remember the fun, work and companionship of the past four years. Our freshman year was spent getting acclimated to our new routine and taking part in the extra - curricular activities of the school. Although we were ÂŁ a bewildered and slightly frigh- ened group in September, by the following June we felt we were old hands in the high school. The sophomore year went by quietly and serenely. We had a few dances and the tra- ditional sleigh rides and picnics. As juniors, our first enjoyable task was ordering our class rings. We were cer- tainly proud and happy to wear them! Then came the work of publishing the yearbook, â MEMORIES OP HEUVELTON CENTRAL. We scurried around getting advertise- ments, pasting pictures, and typing copy; finally, the book was assembled, and we all relaxed. The decorating committee. with Mrs. Hendee as advisor, beautifully carried out the theme of Moonlight and Roses. The Town Hall was filled with fresh flowers, and there was an unusual, old-fashioned wishing well in the center of the floor. John Mayne and Jean Ladouceur were Prom King and Queen. It was a gala evening and will be remembered by us all. At last we were seniors 1 The year was packed with activities. First of all, we held a successful round and sq- are dance. Then came the penny supper on Washington's Birthday. Again we were faced with the problems of publishing the yearbook, THE 1952 HEUVELTONIAN. The Senior Play, THOSE WEBSTERS, was produced in the Town Hall to an appreciative and packed audience. We will always remember our first big night behind the footlights. Finally, graduation day arrived'. Dressed in our caps and gowns, we were proud to receive our diplomas but sad to leave the school where we had spent four happy and active years. Our most important contribution to the school was the selection of a school crest. Early in the fall, we decided that our school rings would be fashioned with a uniform crest which will be used as the official symbol for the school. We hope the classes that follow us like this crest I We had many gay social events. The highlight of the year was, of course, the Junior Prom. We worked diligently on the various committees and our time was well spent. The Town Hall was beautiful, the orchestra smooth, and everyone had a wonderful, unforgettable evening. SOPHOMORE CLASS NEWS This year we have settled down to high school routine and our senior year now seems attainable. We are taking an active part in extra-curricular activities, and our members are well represented in chorus, band, cheerleading, and athletics. Our social activities are limited, so we are looking forward to the junior year when we can get our school rings, sponsor the Junior Prom, and have class parties. FRESHMAN CLASS NOTES As new members of the high school last fall, we experienced the thrill of learning to be independent. It was wonderful to go from class to class every I4.5 minutes instead of sitting in the same room all day long'. Everything was new and exciting and we en- joyed it all. We had three super social evenings. Our Halloween party was a riotous success. The sleigh ride that followed was fun and we enjoyed the hot chocolate and dancing that followed. Our class picnic in June was a fitting conclusion to a glorious yearl Our officers for the year were: President . . Vice-president Secretary _._ . Treasurer . . In addition to our classroom studies, we took part in many extra-curricular activities. Working with other people, we made many friends and developed good citizenship traits--initiative, coopera- tion, good sportsmanship, and a sense of responsibility. This picture was taken at our first athletic rally last fall when the whole student body gathered in front of the school to wish our soccer team good _ to the band, cheered lustily, and started our year with a fine school spirit. ed THIS PAGE SPONSORED BY WOOD-CARMODY STUDIO, OGDENSBURG, NEW YORK 20 Yearbook Staff Left to Right - Bob Finley, assistant editor; Janet Smith, editor; Mrs. Edgar Hendee, advisor; Fairbairn Ashworth, treasurer; Ray Aldrich, business manager; Joan Denny, business manager; Helen Clark, literary editor.
