lddd Qfdataag The class of '54 has a bright but memorable past. I shall endeavor to unfold this History to you in a brief but pleasant manner, hoping to bring you the most happy moments and to the Histaian of some future date who will have to write the greater deeds of our Seniors, the very best to you. It was the latter part of August 1941 when fifteen brilliant but educable children bounced in the door of dear Ole Heuck's and landed at the feet of Mrs. Addienell Crawford, much was to be learned by students and teachers. The Brst years of our school life was bright and acdveg those added to our able list of veterans as our early teachers were: First, Mrs. Addienell Crawfordg Second and Third, Mrs. L. L. Bullardg Fourth, Mrs. T. I. Rutledge: Fifth. Mrs. D. B. Draneg Sixth and Seventh, Miss Frankie Nell Horton. After much moving around we settled down in the fifth grade with our present class with few exceptions. Those winning the eighth grade medals were, Edouida Barry and Luther Bullard. Mr. Hugh V. Britt was our sponsor in that grade. In 1949 a battle worn little group of students entered the year that begin our high school days. Our president was Edouida Barry and our candidate, Bobbie Jean Case, was crowned Miss Heuck's Retreat. Also Bobby Tolar came back to tu from Mobile, Ala. Bobby was our second addition since Theda Carlisle who came to us in the eighth. The tend: grade provided us with another great shock. Edith Thames became Mrs. Thomas Earl I-lonea, thus we lost one more. Again our President was Edouida Barry and Bobby Jean Case wae the crown for Miss Heuck's another year. Theda Carlisle won the Athletic award and Edouida Barry the History award for that year. Our Junior year was most exciting. Mike Oberschmidt was our President. Those starring in the Who's who were: Edouida Barry, Betty Jo Flowers, Jerry White. Eugene Lee, Mike Overschrnidt, Peggy Kavanaugh and Bobbie Jean Case. Those leaving were Peggy Kavanaugh and getting married Bobbie Jean Case. Our play, 'The Able Miss Cain under direction of Mrs. H. H. Ward was a big hit. Our biggest event of the year was the entertaining of the Seniors with a picnic at Percy Quinn State Park. In 1953 an humble little group entered the twelfth grade minus Mike Ober- schmidt who deserted us to go to Co-Lin, but Co-Lin in turn aided us in helping us gain Srirley Coker, and Eugene Lee dropped out. Our President is Luther Bullard and those in the Who's Who are Betty Io Flowers, Edouida Barry, Theda Carlisle, Bobby Tolar, Luther Bullard, Dorothy Callendar, Jerry White and Slirley Coker. Mrs. W. P. Evans directed our play, Professor, l-low Could You! and again we were a big hitl Dorothy Callendar again captured the crown of Miss Heuck's. We have oodles of plans fm graduation, parties and trip to Florida.
