Fasfer if wenf, drawing me like a magnef. The crysfal ball sfopped, as a commanding voice echoed fhrough fhe room. Then l saw her, a liffle old woman, beckoning fo me. Come, inquisifive one. Taking fhe sfool offered, l lisfened infenfly. You, a maker of fufure America, ioin me in a backward iourney fo review your pasf confribufionsf' Lo and behold! Before me in fhe crysfal ball fhese scenes were enfolded. Presidenf Jim Sfover, carrying a banner, Sophomores, led a procession of sfudenfs. Following were Bob Spo- naugle in foofball affire, Jack Girvin in baskef- ball frunks, Dick Reese, Chuck Lorenz, Rico Rossi, and Joe Rockwell in swimming suifs. Soph- omores were represenfed in almosf every school acfivify. Soff music and colored lighfs in fhe social room provided a pleasanf afmosphere for fhe sophomore prom. A clash of cymbals, a roll of drums, and Presidenf Rossi appeared leading fhe iuniors. The firsf ordeal was fhe Tri-l-li-Y and l-li-Y in- ifiafions. The added foofball facfics of Jack Girvin, Don Kelly, Ed Fornwalf, Ken Kopenhaver, and Lynn Garrison helped bring home fhe Soufh Penn fifle. New baskefball sfars, Spo- naugle and Fornwalf, aided in capfuring fhe Norfhern Division fifle. Rico Rossi became fhe sfafe breasfsfroke champion. Boosfing school spirif were pep-squaders Lucille Poorman, Lor- raine Wagner, Janice Burns, and Doris Swarfz. A dynamic explosion occurred in room 209. Con- cluding an excifing year were fhe Junior Prom and fhe formal Daisy Dance. A loud fan fare announced a group of mafure-looking sfudenfs led by Senior-Presidenf Garrison. Ah! The long-awaifed year of class picfures, name cards, and graduafionl Glenn Sullivan headed fhe Senafe. Sponaugle and Gar- rison capfained a splendid foofball feam which was well represenfed in fhe all-sfar game. The mafmen's new capfain was Bill Piffsenberger. Parficularly oufsfanding in music during high school were Janef Miller, Mary Daniel, and Paul l-locker. Alba Marcucci sang for fhe Tro- ians. The class play, Ever Since Eve, was an SRO hif. Vocafional seniors presenfed an un- usual assembly, A Nighf in an Inn. The Broad- casfer was in fhe capable hands of Daniel, Winfers, Burns, Shaffer, Heide, Royer, Markley, Yorfy, and Burkholder. Mary Sfover led fhe class in breaking previous cake-sale records. Edifor- in-chief Alfa Royer, assisfed by a compefenf sfaff, complefed fhe excellenf '45 Choclafier. The midyear arrived af a fime when many decisions were made, Some answered fheir coun- fry's call. Ofhers wenf fo college or sfayed fo finish school. Seizing a lasf chance fo be fo- gefher, fhe seniors held fheir prom in luxurious l-lofel l-lershey on January 24. On May 20, one hundred and eighfy sen- iors gravely fook fheir final sfep info a chaofic world. Their carefree youfh was over: fhey were young men and women. The lasf scene became hazy, fhen faded info nofhing.
