Wrestlers Takes Control! Watters Wrestles His Way Downstate The 1981-82 Wrestling Huskies battled their way through another challenging season. The Huskies ended their season with a dual record of 7-8-2. The most exciting, as well as the most important meet of the season, was against Palatine here in the Huskie gymnasium. Both teams walked onto the mats undefeated in conference. lt was a grueling battle to the finish. Both schools realized that the winning team would leave the Hersey gym - North Division Champs! It was an unforgetable meet. Un- fortunately, Palatine won by a slight margin, causing the Huskies to end their season with an outstanding conference record of 5- 1. The Conference meet was the next step for the Huskies. Exceptional performances were given by 2nd place finisher Brian Petersen, 3rd place finisher Bob Watters, and 4th place finishers Denis Crevis, Ron Pontious, and lim Wilcox. Following Confer- ence was the District meet held at Deerfield High School. Tom Bieschke and Bob Watters were cham- pions in their weight classes. Sam Cohen and Pete Youngwerth fought their way to a third place title, which advanced all four of these wrestlers to Sec- tionals. Sectionals proved to be very rewarding for Bob Watters. He proudly received a third place medal which qualified him to compete in the state meet. Top talents throughout the season were shown by Senior Captain Tom Biescheke, Senior Ron Pontious, and juniors Brian Petersen and Bob Watters. Other Seniors this year included Denis Crevis, Sam Cohen, Tony McPartlin, Vince Nuccio, Mike Stark, and Pete Youngwerth. This year's team was directed by Coach Rick Mann. Mr. Mann feels there is a lot of I. V. talent moving up to Varsity next year,' therefore, he is look- ing forward to another challenging season. By Cheryl Inglewski and Kelli Shoub Coach Mann says, Go Get 'Em. Mike Stark gets one point for an escape. Pete Youngwerth out-muscles his opponent. Ron Pontious can win even with his eyes closed.
