Golf Team Swings Into Tough Season The Hersey golf team finished the year off with a record of 10 wins and 7 loses. The Varsity team placed 8th out of 14 teams on the conference tour. The outstanding golfers this year were senior jeff Kin tzle, junior john Passaglia, and sophmore Howard Brown. Howard Brown ended the season by qualifying for sectionals where he shot an 81. He also captured first Coach Kintzle gives advise to son jeff place in the Lake Forest Sophmore Invite. jeff Kintzle and junior john Passaglia consistently averaged low 40's all season long. Coach Al Kintzle is looking forward to next sea- son. He feels that the underclassmen have a lot of talent, enough to possibly capture a conference title. by jim Geallis Howard Brown shows what it takes to make it into sectionals. 9' Dave Kownick shows perfect form in his drive jeff K intzle lines up for a perfect put.

Boys' Cross- C oun tr Builds For Future The 1981 boys' cross-country team worked uphill all season. After having their top five runners gra- duate last year and two key runners, Brian Oeltgen and Dale Pierce, injured this year, the team had a lot of rebuilding to do. The team finished with a 1-8 record on the season and 12th in the conference race. The outstanding runners for the team this year were Brian Altmayer, senior, and Howard Kagay, sophomore. The M. V.P. award went to Altmayer who was also captain of the team. Coach Larry Travis brought up 4 sophomores in hopes of preparing them for seasons to come. The best meet for the team this year was the Mattoon Invitational where they finished 19th out of 32 teams. by john De Waal Brian Altmayer moves ahead of opponent.
