Boys rack Pushes Through Tough Season The 1981 Varsity Track Team, hoping to finish in the top half of their conference, fell short of their goal this year. Although finishing off with a record of 4-11, some very strong individuals capitalized on their season. Seniors Cliff Blaine and Craig Schachtschneider went down state for their perfor- mances in the 800 and 400 meter runs respectively. Other outstanding athletes were seniors Steve Kane, Ron Psenka and Doug Ward. With this year's team being very enthusiastic about the season, their conference and district scores were not happily accepted. Finishing 12th in both meets, they wished there was more time in the season, as improvement was being shown. Six of their dual meets were lost by only seven points or less with the Oak Park Relays being their best performance of the year. Going against some of the best teams in the state, they pulled a 9th place finish for the afternoon. The team was coached by Mr. Larry Travis, who is looking forward to a prosperous season next year. by john Griffin jim Konrad and Craig Schachtschneider execute their handoff perfectly.
