Guidance Dept. Gives Advice For the past 73 years the Pupil Personnel Service IPPSJ has been headed by Mr. Donald Henne. The main purpose of this department is to advise and give information to the students. Also working with the department are Carol Steenbock, school psychologistg Dolores Scully, school nurse,' Cathy Bieber, speech therapistg Guy Karm, police counselor,' Robert Leece, l.R, coordina- tory David Toepke, l.R. counselor,' and joan Callen and Robert Hannon, deaf ed counselors. The college career program is headed again this year by Samuel Perpitch, and he is assisted by Henry Blim. They make arrangements for college represen- tatives to come and visit. They also help students work on the computer, and this helps them decide which schools to consider. Pro vide Many Services New required study hall attendance has made the library become a quieter study area. Head librarian, Mr. Olenik stated that the library is much quieter and the kids are more cooperative than in the past. The library staff has been assisted this year by volun- teer students who have spare time during their study hall. Volunteering gives the student a chance to learn about the library and lend a helping hand. The Hersey reference room has become a favorite place for serious research and homework. The room was carpeted at the beginning of the school year which adds to the atmosphere of silence and seren- ity. But, one may still get into some less serious work by checking out some head-phones and tuning in to the FM radio which was a gift from a previous senior class. The Audio-Visual Department provides many ser- vices to the school. Its resources are used at some time in almost every classroom. Equipment found here includes film projectors, slide projectors, over- head projectors, tape players and cameras, just to name a few. by Angie Leonardo Maureen Wenger finds peace and quiet in the library.
