Practical Arts Mold Student For Future ccupations The Practical Arts Division, headed by Mr. john Hangey, is divided into four departments: Business and Cooperative Education, Home Economics, and Industrial Arts. During the year, students are encouraged to take part in various exhibits and contests. Students may show a drawing or painting at the annual Randhurst Art Exhibit and receive a Certificate of Recognition. Triton College sponsors a graphic arts competition where students can enter graphical drawings, which could win them a blue ribbon. These are just two of the many exhibits and contests that students could get involved in. Physical Ed. Dept. Pro vides Fun And Exercise P.E. is the only class that students are required to take throughout all four years at Hersey. lt has be- come more exciting for juniors and seniors, due to the fact that they have the opportunity to choose among many activities. For instance, they may select volleyball, basketball, weight training, aerobics, bowling, and more. This enables students to enjoy P.E. more because they are in the group they select- ed. As always, there were changes and adjustments among the teachers. Both Mrs. Sadler and Mrs. Duba left the staff to become full-time mothers. Miss Ost married and is now Mrs. Wright. Miss Sullivan also married, and is presently known as Mrs. Holmgren. Mrs. Manning formerly Miss Blaney, was a 7975 gra- duate of Hersey. If students participate and are enthusiastic in P.E. it can be very challenging and enjoyable. by Sharon Bickley Nancy K naack shows her defensive skills. Viginia Cogdill has a strong arm for soccer. Competition and fitness are both a part of gym class. Mrs. Holmgren instructs her students well. Miss Swanson signs up a tardy student for after school P.E. fun.
