A.F.S. Offers In terna tional pportunities A.F.S. is a program designed to bring people to- gether, to share each others interests and make new friends. The main idea of A.F.S. is to get everyone involved in the sharing of foreign cultures. In past years A.F.S. has sent 34 Hersey students on the A.F.S. American Abroad or Domestic Programs. This year several students from Hersey went abroad: Sue Dietzen to West Germany, Al Kastner to Guata- mala and Mary Stanaszek to Brazil. Four foreign exchange students were at Hersey this year: lorn Focken from West Germany, Manuel Gomez from Portugal, Maria Pelidis from Greece and Magaretta Svinsson from Sweden. The many thousands of dollars raised over the years through activities such as the Pizza Sale and the A.F.S. dinner make this program possible. A.F.S. is a great way to meet a wide variety of people and explore different ways of life. Sponsor- ing this fine organization are Mr. Dennis Olenik and Mrs. Lillian Bandelow. by julie Kane Mdfgafefa Maria Pelidis Svensson Gfgecg Sweden i lvrn F0ClfCH Manuel Gomez West Germany Portugal A.F.S.
