Student Council Strives To Promote Spirit Student Council is one of the main organizations in the school. lt is made up of approximately twenty representatives from each class. Student Council has many goals. They help to improve student participa- tion and school spirit, as well as to keep communica- tion lines open between students and the district administration. Some traditional activities Student Council sponsers include Grass Day, organizing the Homecoming Activities, the Christmas Assembly, Penny Days to support the orphans, and various ser- vice projects throughout the year. New this year, was the sending of balloons during Homecoming week. It proved to be very successful and was en- joyed by many students. Coronation also went over very well. The four officers this year are Dave Adelman, Tra- cy McAllister, Monica Wendell, and Libby Meier. These four students, along with the committee chairmen, make up the Executive Board. Their basic purpose is to discuss new ideas and decide whether Student Council should consider them or not. The underclass councils are very promising, con- sequently, Hersey has applied to host the State Con- vention in the years to come.
