Basketball Team Shoots for VICTOR Y! The members of the 1980-81 Boys Basketball Team demonstrated dedication and en th usiasm. They all played and worked very well together, according to Varsity Coach John Lucas. Although the 12-13 overall team record may not reflect all this effort, the team 's dedication and talent were noticed by the fans and the opposing teams. The team hnished the season with a 7-5 conference record, tying Wheeling for second place North divi- sion honors. Some of their best games and toughest competi- tions were played against Fremd, Barrington, Arling- ton, and Waukegan East, where they displayed their Hnest performances. This year's team awards were voted by the players themselves. Senior Da ve Gilbreth received Most Valuable Player while the Sportsmanship title was awarded to Senior Dan Kochevar. The Hustle Award, which is given to the player who exhibits 1107, con- sistantly, was received by Senior Mike Norris. The outstanding seniors this year were Dave Gilbreth, Tom Huene, Mike Norris, Dan Kochevar, Paul Au- gustyn, Scott Wexler, and John Rogala. This year's MVP, Dave Gilbreth, shattered the ex- isting Huskie record board. His outstanding records include: most points in a single game, 53,' most points per season, 815: most career points, 1536,' most free- throws in a game, 22 most free-throws in a season, 204, and the most free-throws in one career, 400.
