oys, Cross Country Team Shows H uskie De termina tion The 1980 Boys' Cross Country Team finished up their season with five Wins and four losses in their dual meet competition. According to Coach Travis, the team wasn 't as successful as it could have been due to many injuries and sicknesses through the sea- son. Despite the numerous injuries and sicknesses, the varsity team showed outstanding enthusiasm and dedication. Running everyday, the varsity team kept up the pace of eight to ten miles. However, some practices were shorter, concentrating on speed ra ther than endurance. This year's varsity team consisted of seven seniors and seven juniors. Girls' Cross oun try un or Success The 1980 Girls' Cross Country Team had a much- improved season over last year, with an overall re- cord of 3-3. Connie Costello and Laurel Wagner led the wa y to a tie for sixth place in the conference meet, getting tenth and eleventh, respectively, which earned them an All-Conference title. They also Hn- ished in the top Hfteen in the district meet, with strong Hnishes by the rest of the team to gain them a seventh place Hnish. Besides the regular conference meets, the girls had invitationals on Saturdays at Antoich, Woodstock, Homewood-Flossmoor, and Maine West, Where there were as many as 25 schools competing. The team consisted of two seniors, four juniors, three sophomores, and one freshman.
