Set on a dead end street overlooking New York 's East River in 1935. the play presented the stotjv of a poverty-stricken group of Dead End kids and the antics and adven- tures they eneountered. 'l'he east was definitelhi' one of the largest Hersey has seen. eonsisting of thirty-three members. A good nuniher of the east were neweomers. who had no problem eapturing the spirit of the theater. Starring in the lending roles were Mark Lasko as Tommy. Pat 'I'roppe as Spit, Eriek Holman as T.B,, Pat 0 'Neil as Angel, and Holi Morrill as Dippy, Outstanding perfor- manees were also given by Tom Troppe as Gimpty. llrrant Harner as Bali-v Faee Martin. and Julie Win- ters as Drina. Fine performances were also given by the remaining east members. Speeial eongratulations should go to the direetor. Mr. llruee Drouin and his theater stafli eonsisting of Teehnieal Director. Mr. Edward Moonq Assistant to the direelor, Mrs. ,loan Howdlef and Business man- ager, Mrs. Delores Lindgren. 'l'he set showed eridenee of long hours worked and displayed mueh realism. The Student Production Staff eonipleted another exeellent job. Soccer Makes H ersey History Out of the six years that soccer has been played at Hersey, the 1980 soccer season goes down in history as being the best yet. This is the hrst year the team has won a post season tournament game, which was against Rolling Meadows with the score of 3-2. They had an overall record for the year of 3 wins, 12 losses, and 3 ties. The team consisted of some very outstanding play- ers. Felix Bachmeier, a junior, was named All-Confer- ence. Eric Quidzinski, a freshman, was not only named All-Conference, but also Hersey's hrst All- Regional soccer player in the State of Illinois. Other skillfull players were senior Panos Topalis, junior Joe Cappuccitti, and junior goalie Dan Ludwigson. The team was successfully coached by Walt Ja- sinski, Dean of Students, who says he Wishes the sea- son could of been longer, because toward the end, the boys were really starting to show real potential. by Sandy Reeve The team watches with much concern for their active players. Vito Florio looks to where he will pass the ball next 'Nm Coach Jasinski watches intensively over Tim Fergus works his wa y down the field. his team. Eric Quidzinski puts alot of thought on his next play. Joe Cappuccitti shows signs of effort and determination.
