ar ity ootball Shows Spirit nd De termina tion Exciting 5-4 Season The 1980 Varsity Football Team Hnished the season with a 5-4 record. The record is deceiving because, with a few breaks here and there, they could have been serious con tenders for post season play. With all things considered, 2 points stopped them short of their drive. The Huskies lost the heartbreaking games to Fremd and Barrington by an identical score of 14-13. Coach Gli wa said it was quite difficult to accept these losses, but felt his only disappointment this season was that this Une bunch of athletes didn't get a chance to participate in the sta te playoffs. He said all four losses came to superb teams. The one game that will be hard for any Hersey fan to forget was against Palatine where Keith More in- tercepted and returned a school record 101 yard in- terception for a touchdown in the closing minutes to win the game. It was truly an exciting contest. Ron Polizzi was the most outstanding offensive player on the team. Ron ca ught 22 passes for over 300 yards and 5 touchdowns. The defense had many standouts. Among them were Mike Behnke, Keith More, Bruce Erickson, and Steve Anzelmo. Mike Behnke, Bruce Erickson, and Ken Arend were named to the 1980 MSL. All-Conference team.
