There have been a few changes in this department since last year. Discon tin uing the Leader's program and ' separating the Freshman - Sophomore gym classes M - from the Junior - Senior classes were two other I V changes from last year. Junior and Senior classes were permitted to choose from a number of different units such as weight train- V ing, yoga, basketball, badminton, rollerska ting, bowl- ing, and many others. Growth S Evident for Deaf . The deaf education program at Hersey has certain- ly shown signs of progress and expansion, Because of the increasing enrollment of students, H ve new teachers have been added to the staff In addition, more rooms are being occupied for classes. Most ex- citing of the program 's expansions is the beginning of work with Apple Computers, The computers are be- ing programed for work in ma th classes, but the pro- grams Chairperson, Louise Wilson, is hoping for the development of a program in Da ta Processing. The deaf students come from a wide-spread region- al area. This year th ere are 76 students enrolled in the program. The department has twelve teachers, three interpreters, two counselors and one secretary. The courses offered to the students are mostly self-con- tained, but many students are integrated into regular classes along with an interpreter to interpret infor- mation to them.
