on or Society Encourages Scholarship and Service Hersey's National Honor Society has many out- standing members who contribute their efforts in many extracurricular activities. Many of these activi- ties require the members to do some very hard work. To become a member of the Na tional Honor Society a student must meet three criteria. The Hrst is to maintain a grade point average of at least 4.5. Each year members must obtain recommendations from teachers on their abilities in leadership, service, and character. Members also have to complete specified service projects. The service projects National Honor Society has been involved with this year are the NHS Blood Drive and Teacher-Parent Conference Open House hosts. They also raised money for the Sun Times Neediest Families Fund, and money to benent Nate VanDeGraaff at the 1981 Deaf Olympics. In the spring, they con tributed to the Shamrocks for Dystro- phy collection. Members also gathered clothes to give to the Salvation Army and towels to give to the American Cancer Society. The members of the National Honor Society have achieved much this year. They contributed a great deal to the community and to the prestige of Hersey High School. by Gayle Phinney NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY CO-OFFICERS. Front: Theo Den- axas, Vince Adams.
