Girls, Bowling Team is onferen ce Champs The 1980-81 Herse y Girls' Bowling Team had a great season with an overall record of eight wins, two losses, and two ties. They placed first in conference and fourth in districts. The varsity team was led by Senior Kim Schultz with an average of 168. Senior Karen Koch followed with a strong 159 average. Other bowlers were Senior Sue Alseth and Freshman Gloria Gieske, both with an average of 156. Also helping out the team were Soph- omore Kim Larsen with a 149 average and Senior Linda Trewin with a 145 average. The teams' practices were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Thunderbird Lanes. Meets were held on Mondays and Fridays at Arlington Lanes. The teams success was due to Walt Jasinskis' coaching and total team effort. by Tricia Ford Kim Schultz strikes again! restlers Show Excellen ce! The 1980-81 Wrestling Team proved to be one of the most successful in this school 's history. The Hus- kies took hrst in the Glenbrook South Invitational, Conference, Districts, Sectionals, and placed eighth in the State Meet. This year was the Hrst year that Her- sey wrestlers ever took first place in Sectionals. There were many outstanding wrestlers who con- tributed to the teams excellence, particularly those who went downsta te. These included Brian Peterson, Bob Watters, Dave Mey, Ken Arend, and Scott Shoub, who was the most improved wrestler. The captains of this year's team were Tom Bieschke, Dave Mey, and Ken Arend. Dave and Ken were also voted the Most Valuable Wrestlers. Mr. Mann commented on the team as being one of the best in quite a few years. by Dave Gilbreth and Kerry Hogan Glenn Cooper takes charge.
