My name is Francois Febvay. I am seventeen years old and live in Dejon, France. It is a town of 100,000 situated about 200 miles southeast of Paris in the center of France. At home I have one brother who is sixteen years old. My father is manager of a loan bank and my mother is a house- wife. I graduated in France from a new school of about 2000 students. When I return to France I will go to college where I'll study general business. Living with the Strutz family, I have found the American education system very different from France. Hersey is a terrific school! I think the stu- dents have a lot of freedom and close relationships with the majority of the teachers. The classes are more relaxed than in France. I have really enjoyed playing football with the Huskies. I have found the most fantastic school spirit at Hersey and I hope the school stays as great as it is now through the years. My name is Jeanny Dondlinger. I am an A.F.S. student from the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, a small country between Germany, France, and Belgium. During my stay in the United States Ilived with the Robson family in Ar- lington Heights. Both of my host sisters fKim and Terril go to Hersey. I like Hersey because of its interesting educa- tional program, its spirit, and all its activities. This year the Hersey band has been a real big experience for me, for in Luxembourg there are no marching bands. The partici- pation of the band in the Rose Bowl Parade was an out- standing performance that I enjoyed very- much. As solo chair clarinet player of the Symphonic Winds, I'm learning a lot which will be helpful in my possible future career as a musician. I want to thank the faculty and all my class- mates who accepted me with friendliness and understand- ing and who all contributed to make my senior year at Hersey unforgetable for me. I am Oya Akisan, an A.F.S. student from Istanbul, Tur- key. I am living in Arlington Heights with my American family, the LaPlantes. I have two sisters in my family in Turkey. After attending my small high school of two- hundred and fifty in Turkey, Hersey seemed very big to me. I was surprised to see the importance of sports in school life. I like Hersey's school spirit and the perform- ances of the Pomberets, whom we don't have in my school in Turkey. I like Hersey because if offers many courses and I like being able to choose the classes that I like. I will con- tinue my education when I go back to Turkey. I would like to have a profession by which I will be able to help human beings. I am a student of the piano at Istanbul Conserva- tory. I also give piano lessons to small children. I have en- joyed Hersey and would like to thank everyone who helped me make the right adjustments to my new school. I would like to thank Mrs. Bandelow and Mrs. Yates. It was very nice being with Hers ey students. Thank you very much!
