Basketball Huskies Rebuild After Loss Of Veteran Players With memories of prestigious 1974 Elite Eight status and a trip to Champaign still dancing in the minds of Huskie basketball players and fans, the basketball team started the season with great hopes for a super year. These hopes soon faded as the season went on, and the fans soon realized that it was not the year of the Husky as far as bas- ketball was concerned. Hersey suffered a great loss of key veteran players through graduation and a transfer. Much responsibility was placed on the shoulders of new varsity players and the veterans, Clyde Glass and Rich Madison. This year's Huskies had to follow the glorious path laid down by the great team oflast year. A But what can be said about a 7-19 season? Despite the many opinions and reasons offered for the apparent lack of g success this year, our Huskies were still Huskies and they played their hearts out each and every game. Manyggames could only be called heartbreakers, including the contests against Buffalo Grove where both games ended in ties, but where the Huskies were edged out by slim margins in over- time. Many games were similar in that we were so close but yet so far! Earning an All-Conference position this year in the Mid- Suburban League was Clyde Glass. Clyde supplied the team with rebounding strength and great shooting. Despite many heartbreaks and moments of sheer frus- tration, the shouts of loyal Huskie fans could always be heard by competing schools. Fan feelings toward the team could be summed up in our popular team cheer, WE ARE HUSKIES, WE ARE GREAT! l Bison defender tries in vain to stifle a Madison jumper. Rich Madison goes for two over Prospect defender Clyde Glass takes to the air for two points.
