Vars it Golf This year the small ballers really teed-off. The golf team had a fine year this year winning their first 11 meets and then losing their next 5 meets. They placed first in the Conference meet. They then, because of the law of aver- ages were 2nd in Conference. Of the Varsity golfers that played regularly, all but one will be returning next year. One outstanding golfer was Ed Stubbs. He set team rec- ords and also took first in the individual honors. Also out- standing on the fairway was Ray Hafner. The only senior that played, Ray tried harder in the number 2 position. The overall team average for the year was 160.7 . The high average of the team was shot by Ed Stubbs with a 42. Coach Kintzle, this year had alot to be proud of during the course of the season and one can expect the same from next year's team. by Bill Hellyer 4, .4 si if ' .li :sw il Z X V . nl . . . Cross Country Loneliness is always associated with the long distance runner. An athlete has to overcome this loneliness to be- come great. Their were several runners who accomplished this feat. This year the Husky Harriers finished with an impres- sive dual meet record of 9-3. In the Conference meet, the Huskies placed 9th and improved to place 5th in the Dis- trict meet which enabled them to go to the Sectional meet, where they placed 15th. The nucleus of the team included Craig Hanssen, Hal Stembridge, Dave Jones, Jay McCarthy, and Ron Ste- phanie. These runners were the backbone of the team, being supported by those not always in the limelight. In all, the Cross Country had a good season this year and the student body should look for a good team next year in their continuing of a tradition. by Bill Hellyer Senior Dave Jones shows Huskie determination.
