Pep Club, GRA Promote Sports' Activities With Hersey's continued rise as an ath- letic power this year, Pep Club has been responsible for boosting the ever-growing Husky spirit. Their major activities this year involved sweater sales, sponsoring the after-Corona- tion dance, and numerous poster parties. The Girls' Recreation Association, spon- GIRLS' RECREATION ASSOCIATION. Front Row: Jean Siciliano, Carol McCoy, Janet West, Barbara Schmidt, Gaby Ronnett, Michelle sored by Miss Virginia Stolley, was one of the more active clubs this year. Along with their annual Sleep-In, the girls partic- ipated in hall decorations, a skating party and competitive sports days at schools throughout the district. Row 2: Marsha Schnirring, Kim Zaehler, Margaret Langley, Jean irls' Leaders Teach, Some 45 girls with an outstanding interest in physical education participated in this year's Junior and Senior Leaders' Program. As Junior Leaders the girls were taught the rules and techniques of physical education as a class. Then as Senior Leaders they were given individual responsibilities such as taking GIRLS' JUNIOR LEADERS. Front Row: Debbie Guy, Mary Ann Lobes, Kathy Durham, Pat Hickey, Lisa Heitkotter. Both years of gym put an emphasis on the appreciation of athletics, the value of exer- cise and a sense of fair play. Not Pictured: Mike Byrne, Barb Forbis, Ed Suzak. Equestrian, Archaeology Clubs Ride, Study For students interested in the riding and care of horses, Hersey offers membership in the Equestrian Club. Weather permitting, the group went on weekly trips to nearby stables where they learned and practiced the tech- niques of horseback riding. The club is sponsored by Miss Cecelia Mayerle. Not Pictured: Archeology Club, sponsored by Mrs. Nai- dyne Bridwell, concentrated on the specifics of archeology. The small but devoted group worked hard to finance their spring trip to the excavation sites of early Indians. An- other major activity was their monthly lec- ture by the Archeological Society in Chicago.
