The varsity tasted their first victory ever by whipping McHenry in the second meet of the season, 49-46. After losing in a triangular at Maine East, the Huskies bounced back to take second in a triangular at Maine South. Going against much more seasoned teams, the Huskies faced stiff competition in all events and lost their next seven meets. The losses were not without good team effort, however, as the Huskies dropped close meets to Forest View and Prospect. Mike Richartz and Dean Goins were named All-Conference at the end of the season. Frosh-Soph Tankcrs Wield 8-6 Record Hersey's Frosh-Soph tankers continued building for the future by posting a solid 8-6 record for the season. For the most part, the season was touch- and-go. The Frosh-Sophs started their year by losing the first triangular meet of the season, but came back in the next meet to topple McHenry, 74-21. In their next two outings, the team lost triangulars to Lane Tech and Maine South. Shaping up, the tankers next trampled Elmwood Park and edged East Leyden, 49-45. The Huskies then dropped a pair to Forest View and Waukegan before drowning their next three opponents. After a loss to Ar- lington, the tankers finished their year by beating Wheeling, 55-40.
