JV Grapplcrs Finish Year Undcfcatcd The Hersey JV wrestlers wouldn't let themselves go unnoticed in the shadow of their varsity counterparts as they swept all of their dual meets with a clean slate, 12-0. The JV's started their year beating Elm- wood Park, West Leyden and Forest View. The lone dark spot in the JV season came when East Leyden edged them out of first place in a quadrangular meet. However, the JV's bounced right back and beat teams from Arlington, Palatine, Fremd, Glenbard North and Wheeling. The team ended its season with wins over Prospect, Conant and Elk Grove. Jeff Farris, state runner-up in All-Around, does his routine on the parallel bars. Husky mnasts Take 2nd In State Hersey's varsity gymnastic's team once again proved to be a power in the area. The team took first place in the conference second in the district meet, first in the sectional and repeated by placing second in the state meet behind powerful Hinsdale. The gymnasts started their season by rolling over their first four opponents before losing their only meet of the season to Ar- lington by .16 of a point. From the sectionals, the Husky gymnasts placed 14 spots in the preliminaries at the state. From these, four gymnasts emerged to the finals. Jeff Farris finished second in the All- Around and second on the parallel bars. Other state finalists were John Weaver, eighth on the tramp: Scott Hudson, seventh on the parallel bars and Ed Hembd, eighth on the 9 side horse.
