Aides Assist Staff, Facult , Administration The Attendance Aides assisted the office staff in performing many of the painstaking chores associated with accounting for the stu- dent populace at Hersey. Forfeiting their study halls, the aides greatly relieved the paper work involved with student attendance from filing and phone-answering to collecting and distributing student absentee lists. Members of the Guidance Aide corps assisted Mrs. Turnipseed in her role as secretary to the Pupil Personnel staff by helping with filing and reception and served as process servers when counselors wished to see students on matters of scheduling and course selection. Too, some of the members actively Worked in hospitals as aides to the staffs giving them first-hand experience. Members of the Future Teachers of America learned through their meetings the qualifi- cations of the teaching professions and were also able to question some of the teachers and student teachers who were invited to meetings to serve as sounding-boards for careers in teaching. 58 J,-1

Varsity Cagcrs Post 19-5 Season Record Husky varsity cagers experienced some year, starting out by whipping their first four opponents before losing a one-pointer to Maine South. Before entering the Danville holiday tour- ney, the Huskies beat Palatine and then Went on to take the Consolation Championship in the Danville Classic. After the holiday break the Huskies Won six straight and then lost a heart-breaker to Wheeling on a last second desperation shot. After four more wins the Huskies dropped the Conference title to Prospect before enter- ing the Regionals where they were knocked out of contention by Barrington after having beaten Libertyville. Bruce Frase, Andy Pancratz and John Tilhou won All-Conference honors at season's end.
