Board, Dr. Gilbert Set 214 Standards The seven member District 214 School Board traditionally set the standards and policies under which the 214 high schools operate. The Board's main function is to make de- cisions that will improve the well-being of Hersey as well as other district schools. Superintendent Dr. Edward H. Gilbert and the Board members continuously evaluate the policies of the school district in every way in order to preserve the level of excel- lence currently found in District 214. Other duties of the Board and Dr. Gilbert include planning of curriculum standards and requirements, supervising the employ- ment of all school personnel, and providing new educational facilities as the communities growth warrants them. Through the critical evaluations of secon- dary education the Board and Dr. Gilbert have benefited the students of Hersey by striving to maintain the quality of its educa- tional services. Edward H. Roland R. Goins Principal Administrators Aid Students, Teachers Administering the complex operation of Hersey falls within the realm of Principal Roland R. Goins. As principal, Mr. Goins is aware of the continuing need for close co- ordination and communication between stu- dents and faculty and constantly strives to improve these relationships. In addition, Mr. Goins is continuously active in the areas of administrative policies, budgetary matters and school-community relations. Assisting Mr. Goins in the area of Admin- istrative services is Assistant Principal Louis H. Schultz, who is responsible for the physical operation of the vast Hersey educational facility. Mr. Schultz also oversees the areas of students behavior and attendance. Seeing to the instructional matters at Her- sey is Assistant Principal Peter J.
