Grade Baskethall With five freshmen on the squad and very little experience the Yellow Jac- kets fought a losing battle on the gridiron this season. However, the outlook for a strong future team is bright. Willie Seibel, freshman, dis- played exceptional football ability. Although losing all six contests the Jackets showed steady improvement. After one year retirement A. E. Joachim has again taken up the baton to direct and teach band, making his twelfth year of band teaching at Her- reld. Fifty-seven members make up the concert band, with 28 in the Junior band. This band continued its superior rat- ing streak in 1950 which was started in 19 2. Girls chorus has proven to be a pop- ular activity for the glrla of Herreid High. For the past few years almost all the girls have taken part. An elimina- tion is always held before the spring music contest. This year Phyllis Schmidt was elected president, Shirley Goehring, vice pres- ident and Darleen Fenske librarian. Every year a mixed chorus Is selected from the girls and boys glee clubs.
