Betty Beck and Oren Berndt were chos- en as Queen and Escort candidates. Clarence Rueb is the only recruit who has discontinued service at the end of the first year. U

Our Showboat would not be complete without our deok hands, the sophomores, with a representation of 2k members. In the previous year this orew numbered 30 members but six of these beosune sea-slok and ended their duty. Allegra Rlsohe started her second year of sea-duty with the Selby crew but treinsferred baok to her own Show- boat after six weeks. James Konald is another member who was foroed to leave his crew and transfer to another boat. The deck-hands elected as their leaders: Johnny Bechtold, President: Virginia Lang, Vice-President; Jerry Quenzer, Secretary and Treasurer and Student Council Representative; Mr. M. Rau Is advisor. Arlouene Delbert and Jerry Quenzer were candidates for queen and escort. Active In the field of sports were Johnny Bechtold, Jerry Quenzer, Floyd Sohaefbauer, John Volzke, and Jimmle Martin. A short program was presented after which each of the re- orults was inquired to perform special tasks to determine whether they were eaa-worthy. All members passed this test and were now classed as crew mem- bers of the Showboat.
