Our Showboat would not be complete without our deok hands, the sophomores, with a representation of 2k members. In the previous year this orew numbered 30 members but six of these beosune sea-slok and ended their duty. Allegra Rlsohe started her second year of sea-duty with the Selby crew but treinsferred baok to her own Show- boat after six weeks. James Konald is another member who was foroed to leave his crew and transfer to another boat. The deck-hands elected as their leaders: Johnny Bechtold, President: Virginia Lang, Vice-President; Jerry Quenzer, Secretary and Treasurer and Student Council Representative; Mr. M. Rau Is advisor. Arlouene Delbert and Jerry Quenzer were candidates for queen and escort. Active In the field of sports were Johnny Bechtold, Jerry Quenzer, Floyd Sohaefbauer, John Volzke, and Jimmle Martin. This group Is vei r active In our mus- ic organizations. Ilene Lang, Donna Schmidt and Jacob Bollinger took part in declamatory. The boys are active In athletics. Leading the navigators are Llla Hub ' eij President ;Vlrgll Ooehrlng, Vice-Presi- dent and Kathleen Brandner, Secretary and Treasurer. Candidates for the Showboat Queen and Escort were Phyllis Schmidt and Marsh- all Gall. As an entertainment feature the navi- gators presented Glass Dishes as their class play. After a brief period of boot train- ing the rest of the crew honored them with an initiation party. They now felt like old salts . Betty Beck and Oren Berndt were chos- en as Queen and Escort candidates. Clarence Rueb is the only recruit who has discontinued service at the end of the first year. U
