Text from Pages 1 - 112 of the 1984 volume:

We, the graduating class of nineteen hundred eighty-four of Hermon High School, would like to dedicate this yearbook to someone who has always helped the Seniors. Although this man has spent much of his valuable time helping students in many ways, he has never received the recognition he deserves. He takes time to be a friend, offering needed guidance to his students. He has been a father-figure to many over the years. It is due to his efforts that many of “his kids” have had jobs during high school. He is the director of the Co-operative Education Program and Vocational Education. We will al- ways remember the influence Mr. J. Fuller Goodwin has had in our high school years. For this reason we wish to show him how much we care, and appreciate all that he does. 4 Mr. MullefSWc Committeemem ptliiirt Mciczii Mr. Carr EistanT Douglas :rintenden Priikipa . wnct’ Mr. Murphy ' Guidance Dire (Seated) HUMAN RF.LATIONS-Aide Mrs. Walt . Remember me when no more, day by day. You tell me of our future, that you planned: Only remember me; you understand It will be late to counsel then or prav. Yet if you should forget me for a while And afterwards remember, do not grieve; For if the darkness and corruption leave A vestige of thoughts that I once I had. Better by far you should forget and smile, Than that you should remember and be sad. Christina Rosetti Daren Johnson is as much a part of our cherished memories as our first days here at Hermon, our most wonderful thoughts of feeling and caring, laughing, weeping, friendship and love. He will be a part of us all for the rest of our lives. He will run with us in spring, swim and walk barefoot with us in summer, reflect our mortality and immortality in fall and await rebirth with us in winter. We, the graduating class of 1984, are proud to say we are Daren’s friends and believe we are very lucky to be able to hold his memory. (1983) Akronite, J. Our team was young and inexperienced con- sisting mostly of freshmen and sophomores. The three seniors on the team were all leaders and very capable runners and their pres- ence will be severely missed next fall. However, with a nucleus of the team returning next year Coach Mulvey looks forward, with great anticipation, to a very competitive season. % Sitting: V. Pomroy Mgr., S. Smith, G. Booker, K. Doughty, C. Glatt, S. Hansen 1983 Varsity Field Hockey When the 1983 Field Hockey season started, the girls knew they were going to have a tough year. The team had lost eight seniors with only three veterans returning and two of them in new positions. The girls not only had to rebuild a team, they had to learn how to play like one. The beginning of the season was tough. With the belief of a wonderful coach and the team’s drive and desire, they began to win. The regular season ended and the team had moved from 11th place to 4th place. They entered the tournaments against Belfast but lost 1-0, giving them an overall record of 8-6. The girls played hard and never gave up! Everyone there cheered them on every step of the way. So, the girls have no reason to hang their heads low because they achieved more in one season than anyone believed they could. It took everyone to make a team, in more ways than one. Congratulations to the team on an excellent season and good luck next year! Senior Members Bottom: K Dunning, Coach Collins, K. Glew Middle: J. Byers, P. Auge Top: R.
