WHAT TEACHERS SAY— WHAT TEACHERS MEAN— “I demand complete silence!” —“Shut up you fools!” “No homework over the weekend.” —“Wait until you poor idiots see the pop quiz I’ve planned for Monday!” “I can’t answer that question right now.” —“What does the kid think I am, Einstein?” I can’t stand any more of this noise!” —“I just ran out of Alka-Seltzer!” “Would anyone like to go to the library for reference work?” —“Now maybe I can get rid of the loudmouths this period!” “There are several people absent today.” —“Lucky people! (Wish I was one of them!)” P. Treadwell: “What’s the difference between dancing and marching?” F. Emerson: “I don’t know.” P. Treadwell: “I didn’t think you did. Let’s sit down!” Mr. Spaulding: “Valerie, give me a sentence with a direct object.” Valerie: “Mr. Spaulding, all of us girls think you’re cute.” Mr. Spaulding: “Thank you, Valerie, but what is the object?” Valerie: “A good report card.” M. Witherly: “I heard you complaining to Mr. MacDonald about the low mark you got on your test paper. What did he say?” J. Taylor: “He said, ‘All entries are judged on the basis of accuracy and neatness, and the decision of the teacher is final’!” Mr. Spaulding: “Congratulations, Herbie, this is the earliest you’ve ever been late to school.” Flowers for everyone and for every occasion ARLENE S 178 Parker Street Tel. 2-3093 BREWER FLOWER SHOP Member of Tele flora Brewer “We Deliver” Home Style Cooking “We'll Serve you a Meal or a Sandwich It’s a pleasure Arlene and Howard Thomas Hampden, Maine Tel. 29 31
