The girls and their manager, Marilyn Munn came to practice faithfully every Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00. At these practices the girls were taught how to control the dribble of the ball, the different passes used, the correct way to pass it, and how to pivot without traveling. We had only two games. Both were with the C.Y.O. We won both of these games. Beverly Jordan was high scorer with 15 and 16 points respectively. All the girls had a chance to play in these games. ARTHUR CHAPIN CO. A. H. By having food sales and one very successful supper, we made our goal of $120.00. Our uniforms were made of cotton gabardine. They were a fitted blue vest, with gold buttons up the front. We had gold blouses, with pom poms for cuff links. We also wore blue sneakers and white socks. The skirts were three yards around with a gold “H” on the left side. We had blue megaphones with a gold “H” printed on them. We wish to thank our principal, Mr. Lundquist; our coach, Miss Sawtelle; Mrs. Allen, Jayvee Cheerleaders, High School, friends, and our parents, who helped us during the season. There are eight girls on the cheering squad, three sophomores and five juniors. Our appreciation also goes to C. Kleinhelter, who taught us our new cheers. Our biggest night was Hampden vs. Hermon. We started the game off by the band playing the Processional March and two cheerleaders held a hoop while the boys jumped through it. The hoop was blue with a big Hawk painted on it, by Dwight Walls. The other girls kept time, with the music with their mega- phones. Then we had the flag salute, where the cheer- leaders went on the floor and everyone stood at atten- tion for the Star Spangled Banner played by the school band. At the half we also had an exciting thing take place. We were able to have the band play the School Song while everyone sang it. 49 G. Littlefield, J. Jewett, Captain; N. Hillier, S. Clark, G.
