oCiL erary Somewhere in Japan, There's a boy 1‘d like to see. He sailed across the ocean, Far away from you and me. He was home with us at Christmas, And here just once before, But still it‘s been a long time Since he left the ocean shore. He‘s missed in Maine and Ohio, and, From him we long to hear; The boy who's far away from us, The one we love so dear. There‘re other boys gone with him And their folks miss them, too. But soon the war'll be over, and, They'll start life all anew. I wish they'd prove to Russia That we are well equipped. The “Reds” would raise the “Old White Flag” To show us they were licked. Then towards home our boys would sail, Some wounded and not well. They all, then, would be free to shout: “We've served our time in Hell!” NATALIE PHILLIPS Class of ‘54 I take my pen in hand To write of days gone by; Of summer which has faded Against the autumn sky. To retell all the glory I found in summer days, And most of all to kneel before The Lord and sing Him praise. Summer in its glory Will soon be in the past. September brings fulfillment Of the dreams we hoped would last. And we begin to notice, Against the autumn sky: The fading marks of summer, The scene of days gone by.
