He strived to be the best he could be and expected his students to do the same. He was a strong advocate of discipline. We grew to respect him be- cause he was a fair and hon- est teacher and coach. Mr. O. put a great deal of time into organizing the Pee Wee base- ball league and never expect- ed anything in return. As a teacher, he always made us feel he was interested in us as people and that he cared. The school as a whole will miss the Ostranders tremen- dously and their memory will remain with us always. Thank you, Mr. Cline friend to all. From oui us your dedication and sense of humor have helped us grow. We are all richer for having shared time with you. Mrs. Bovay, we remember our first day at Kindergarten and you were there to help us make it through the day. Thank you for introducing us to friendship, shar- ing, and the occasional nap. We learned some of the most impor- tant things about life in your class- room. Many threats are in the air such as peer pres- sure, tight schedules, lack of self-confidence, family responsibilities, distinguishing between wants and needs, low grades and jobs with- out benefits ... just to name a few. Once you learn the ropes and get into the swing of things, your freshman year will be a breeze, right? First of all, freshmen don't get into the swing of things. So what do you do? Play it off, get through the year as discreetly as possible. Prepare to conquer your soph- omore year. But wait, now you have to make some de- cisions. What classes to take, what clubs to join, how to get a car out of your parents as soon as you get your license. This year could be fun if you make the right choices and play your cards right. One thing to look forward to was your Junior Prom. All you have to do is wait patiently to be asked, or get up the nerve to do the asking. Piece of cake. Also, you might want to start thinking about life after high school, as in college. Here it is, your senior year. This is what you've been waiting for. Not much to worry about this year, just wrap everything up. Re- member when it comes around, you only have one month to get those applications in. Don't procrastinate! If you're still breathing and are able to show up to graduation, you should have no problem surviving in the real world!! 31 Remember back in first grade, We thought we were so old, The day we had show and tell, And brought in some fool's gold. Remember a few years later. We thought we were divine. We teased the first grade babies At the ripe old age of nine. Remember back in sixth grade, We looked at HIM with a sigh And dreamed of all the coming days In the huge new junior high. Now it's eons later As graduation day draws near We think of bittersweet memories And remember yesteryear. Remember the hellos and laughter, Talk over all our fears. Reflect on learning and sharing, Before the goodbyes and tears. Jenny Evans mi 32 33 Tammy Lee Beldock Gregory Robert Baker Brent A. Durham Kathi Jean Dubrule Kenneth J. Davis 35 38 39 41 Benjamin D. Coupled with the fact that we populate one of the smal- lest schools in the state is the fact that most teachers develop cer- tain characteristics that they carry with them throughout the year. These characteristics often define a teacher and become the yard- stick by which substitute and new teachers are measured. Many teachers have interesting idiosyn- crasies which plague them throughout their teaching careers. Stars and Garters ! Who can forget Mrs. Wilson's exclamations, or Mr. Turbide's legendary black- board climbing expedition? Mr. Nee's Gong Show ranks among the best, along with Mr. Hazen's grand ambition to build a base- ball stadium on the hallowed ground of the soccer field. These foibles and idiosyncra- sies make learning a little bit eas- ier, and a lot more unforgettable. We'll never forget our fearless leaders! 72 73 w tn o « sain v tr- « q m ti in I I 20 H an bi«2!'-'SD 74 Mrs. Lloyd, Mrs. Filippi, Mrs. Sanderson, Mr. Carvel, Mr. Joseph- son, Mr. Smith Row 1: J. If there is any bond strong enough to change heaven and earth, it is this prayer: In the rising of the sun and its going down, we remember them. In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we remember them. In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring, we remember them. In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer, we remember them. In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn, we remember them. In the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them. When we are weary and in need of strength, we remember them. When we have joys we yearn to share, we remember them. So, as we live, they too shall live; For they, now, are a part of us — We remember them. From their friends 88
