His sudden death on September 2, 1966 was a shock to our students, faculty, school personnel, and to the community. He will long be remembered for his sensitivity to music and his exceptional talent for reproducing it. For his scholastic ability, he was admired not only by his classmates, but also by his fellow members of the National Honor Society. Stephen was a very special person not to be soon forgotten by those who knew him. As the guidance counsellor, we are deeply indebted to him for helping us decide on what kind of future we want and in helping us find the right kind of education for it. We want to express our gratitude to some- one who deserves the credit for lending us a helping hand through our high school years and so we are dedicating the 1967 DEMON to Mr. Rexford Morse. This tribute is made in the appreciation of his sincere interest in the welfare and education of the students here in H.D.C.S. and of his untiring efforts in behalf of the education program. At session With thirteen years of education almost completed, Seniors will shortly embark on a new phase in their lives. Responsibilities will multiply and judgments to be made will affect your lives to a much greater extent than in the past. I hope that we have assisted each of you in the development of two im- portant attributes. The first is to seek all facts before making a decision. Keep an open mind and don’t be afraid to change your viewpoint when evidence warrants. The second, and equally important is to consider other people when your activities and decisions affect them. If, and when, you consider other people, other people will consider you. To the students of Hermon-DeKalb Central School, may I urge you to seek high goals in ine aid to do your very best in everything you do. It is no disgrace to fail, provided you have worthy ambi- tions and have put forth an honest effort to rise above that failure.
